I need a new plan after my great failure the other day.

FYI I am sorry for making a goodbye thread. I had it planned and wasn't able to unplan it before release as I was suffering from taking too many sleeping medications

Do you think a wooden railing next to a staircase can hold a person for hanging?

It would depend on some factors, such as thickness and strength of the wood, such as if its made from something strong like oak, or something lighter and weaker like pine. There's likely a way to test to see how much weight it'd take, but if it were to break, you'd maybe have some explaining to do, or have to replace the rail. Most "fancy" type spiral staircases I've seen, were made probably from maple, which is strong, and they were thick enough to be able to take alot of weight. But if it flexes any if its leaned on, then it probably wouldn't work.

No one here could know for certain since railings aren't uniform, but if you have doubt than probably not. Better off using something you have no question about like a tree or metal beam.

The staircase, no matter the wood used to construct it, is only as strong as the fastening system used to secure it all together.
