I'm non-religious but I'm impressed by the Buddha's assertion that all life is suffering. Everyone that is born suffers and dies. It's not just some people. It's everyone.

Some people seem to really make light of their own suffering and that of others, which makes me think that they aren't suffering in some serious serious sense, like the rest of us are.

I asked my mother "do you think some people are here just to suffer and die?" She said her friend asked the same question years ago. She didn't answer, but I do believe it's a yes.
