Sodium azide (NaN3)

What happens when you ctb using sodium azide (NaN3)?
According to the wikipedia article the LD50 is quite low, so not much is needed. The smell (and I guess the taste) is supposedly horrible and I assume it will hurt since it damages your mucus skins. Does anyone know more? What happens when you fail to ctb? Should you take some meds so you don't puke it out? Can you mix it with a drink to cover the taste?
