  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

This is one reason why suicide is a perfectly rational option. Society is unable/unwilling to give the suicidal the help that they need. To put in the extra work required. To give the extra resources or money to help. They spent $200 million dollars to install nets on the Golden Gate Bridge. How does that solve the problem? They can find another bridge to jump from or another method of suicide. A lot more good could have been done spending that money to help increase the QUALITY OF LIFE of the suicidal. The only way to help those people who can be helped is to increase their happiness/quality of life and decrease their suffering to such a degree that they don't constantly think about killing themselves because their life is utterly unbearable. But instead of actually helping the suicidal by treating them with compassion and dignity, they are treated in barbaric and cruel ways, being caged up like animals and physically forced to stay alive. So not only will they force people to stay alive no matter what , they also have shit help available for them. Nice. That just makes the problem worse. It's no wonder suicide rates are rising. STOP giving people ridiculous, pointless arbitrary platitudes and start giving some substantial tangible help to them that will benefit them LONG TERM. and if a suicidal person is rational but otherwise incapable or unwilling to do what is required, they should have the choice to opt out of life. It's not that complicated but human beings make things 100 times more complicated than they need to be.

Society just offers dirty bandaids for third degree burns and pretends like it's helpful.

Exactly. This is common. A small amount of assistance is given, not even close to the help someone needs, and the giver pats themselves on the back and feels better about themselves because they did a good deed for the day. While the other person continues to struggle or suffer.

Yes you are right. Trying to take away ways to ctb will just make people more desperate, it will not stop suicides. Stopping a suicide attempt is just prolonging that persons suffering. I believe that our right to die should be respected, with people having the option to exit peacefully at a time of their own choosing. It is cruel how people even have to resort to methods like jumping in the first place.

Don't forget the compulsory social media post(s) to broadcast this 'pat on the back' to everyone too.

The blatant virtue signaling really grinds my gears.
