Re the September 19 PPeH update: a summary of any significant changes to the SN method would be very welcome: dosages, protocols, regimens, etc., plus any new case reports.

It's what I have been awaiting.
Fascinating to observe how quickly interest in the SN method has exploded, and how there would seem to be a response to restrict availability.

Or am I just paranoid, along with all my other flips ?

I'm seeing this method as sucky for some of us even if it's all I was able to get.



"Nitrite is also an potent vasodialator and can cause coronary ischemia and stroke as a result of hypotension, tachycardia and hypoxia."

I've had a TIA (mini stroke) where my retina got a little bit of damage to my vision. It's the worst way to suffer in many ways. Also the coronary ischemia can potentially lead to stroke.

Not sure about this yet...wish there was N instead available.

From the report:

"After relocation to the intensive care unit, his consciousness improved and he could recall ingesting approximately 15 g sodium nitrite about 1 hour before he was brought to our hospital."

We are all in agreement that you need more than one hour to die. We also all agree that 15g is probably not enough. I'm going for 20-25g.

Also this:

"The patient was discharged on day 7 without neurologic impairment."

Everything about the report is predictable. We all know that being discovered within hours will lead to survival and that neuro damage is unlikely.

Does anyone know if I can use Gaviscol instead of Zantac. What I know, Gaviscol doesn't reduce the acid, it just stops that the acid goes up to the gullet. If not Can I use backing soda or apple vinegar or something else?

any over the counter antacid will provide some of the benefits of lowering stomach acid levels for sure

Does anyone have info on alcohol (beer) before taking the SN? I'm worried it will be too acidic or slow the absorption of SN by too much. Do we know of anyone who used alcohol with SN? Is anyone here planning on it?

Thanks Stan. I am not sure about the amount. Some say 5 g, others 10, 15 g and few say 30 g. I think I will take 15 g with Meto, Gaviscol and Natron.

I did some snooping on exit site and managed to get some insights into september issue...

1. They have added 2gram Propranolol to regime, and that too to be mixed with SN . meaning 25g SN + 2gm propranolol in water.
2. dosage remains unchanged at 25gram but they now also say 35gram for people over 100kg.
3. rest of the regime remains unchanged.

this is in no way complete update, this is what I am able to gather....

Thanks Walkingdead1 Going to add some narrative to this as its possible imho that the regime is getting a bit tough and may start to put people off the method as these drugs are not easy to obtain.


1. They have added 2gram Propranolol to regime, and that too to be mixed with SN . meaning 25g SN + 2gm propranolol in water.

Propranolol is a beta blocker. One of the things you may get after ingesting SN is tachycardia (quick heartbeat). Propranolol will reduce that. Taking Propanolol will not enhance the SN toxicity or improve its chance of working, its there just to reduce symptoms that during the recorded SN observed suicides were not painful. It is a controlled substance so can only be got through a doctor.

2. dosage remains unchanged at 25gram but they now also say 35gram for people over 100kg.

Bit of an overkill if you excuse the expression. Medical resources outside of this forum will tell you that 100mg of SN per kilo (2.2lbs) of your weight is above lethal. If you can stomach the taste of a high quantity then go for it.

3. rest of the regime remains unchanged.

2 gm propranolol is a lot all in one go. In UK it's prescription only, and typically comes in one-a-day tablet packs for 28 days supply, in 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg doses. I think it would possibly be difficult to persuade a GP to prescribe the larger dosages straight off, and so at best you'd be looking at having to take 100 x 20mg tabs, or more than three months supply.

All to prevent tachycardia after ingesting SN, something which has occasionally been mentioned, though not as a significant problem, by SN attempt survivors.

Following the EI protocol as it now stands includes obtaining three prescription only drugs, viz. a specific antiemetic, a benzodiazepine and now propranolol. This in addition to an OTC (in UK) antacid, and, of course, the increasingly difficult to acquire SN.

Five ingredients ! What next ?

On a slightly different tack: I have been anticipating more reports of observed cases in the updated Handbook - is there any sign of these ?

I agree Roger. What needs to looked at is what is essential and recommended. The two are getting mixed up and I believe people believe you need everything to make it work, which you don't.

I am fully expecting them to add something like procaine and nitroprusside as they enhance the toxicity of SN. I know PN is trying to be as helpful as he can to make it more peaceful, but in reality its not as now people will believe everything is compulsory as part of the regime. Someone will probably suggest that you should only dilute SN with melted snow from the peak of Everest.

quick question. i've gotten some 99,5% food grade SN. emptied the bag into a few tiny plastic cups, in amounts of 15-20g (enough for someone weighing around 230, right?). the cups are stored in a small wooden padlocked box i keep in my bedroom. will this location help preserve the SN? it's pretty dark and doesn't appear to be necessarily cramped or warm. i just need it to hold out for about 6 months, which is how long the SN has left until it expires anyway. it was produced in 2017. kind of shitty luck but what else is new.

Thanks Stan. I've tried to ctb by taking an overdose of a different kind before and failed due vomiting most of it back up. My guess is that I'll need something to help me keep the SN & water solution down.

Don't forget that some people can feel nauseous when they have high anxiety, and I can't think that many wouldn't be anxious when making an attempt
