I read that SN's exposure to air makes it ineffective, does this mean continuous exposure or just a one time exposure last year (after i opened the bottle) is enough to make it worthless?

Thank youuuan easy way to test is a blood test. If you prick your finger or cut yourself you can mix the blood with a small amount of the SN. If it very quickly turns brownish and you see clear fast color change it should still be fairly potent.
be careful! It may not work 100% of the time. Take some time to consider your actions and dont do anything rash.Thank youuu
So the blood might turn brownish and the SN might be bad?be careful! It may not work 100% of the time. Take some time to consider your actions and dont do anything rash.
What happened? The Sodium Nitrite does gradually oxidize and turn into Sodium Nitrate when exposed to air. The PPH says there's no way to reliably tell whether this has occurred through visual inspection alone. In addition, the blood or aquarium test is only meant to test the purity of sodium nitrite. Whether those methods can be used to determine the oxidation/degradation of nitrite into nitrate is not mentioned in the PPH.
Either obtain a new batch of sodium nitrite or get the one you already have tested through a lab. If neither is possible for you, pick a different method. I've personally witnessed a failed attempt due to degraded nitrite. Do not risk it under any circumstances.
No if it turns brown the blood is oxidizing, meaning it's working. This doesn't mean it's as potent as it was when you bought it.So the blood might turn brownish and the SN might be bad?
3 months to a year or so depending on a lot of circumstances. Please please do not use this information to make any rash decisions, you can always buy it again.Sooo like. Say I open my SN to do a blood test on it. What's the timeframe I have before it turns into nitrate? Like how much time do I have after it gets exposed to air before it's rendered ineffective?
A less lethal overdose. It's just like taking less of the same chemical pretty much, you'll pass out slower and may not die. What happened?
A good quality aquarium test should differentiate between nitrate and nitrite, even if not you can buy professional lab reagent tests for nitrites, though with more hassle and costThe Sodium Nitrite does gradually oxidize and turn into Sodium Nitrate when exposed to air. The PPH says there's no way to reliably tell whether this has occurred through visual inspection alone. In addition, the blood or aquarium test is only meant to test the purity of sodium nitrite. after news about SN and SaSu appeared on famous newspapers (NYT etc), and not much financial interest behind keeping SN available (it's cheap and there are only a small group of people curating meat at home), I guess it's only a matter of time until it gets banned or severely restricted, unfortunately.(...) you can always buy it again.
this makes me think about using a larger dose when my time to CTB finally comes. besides doing the blood test. I hope I don't puke it, but I'll have the backup glasses close to me just in case.A less lethal overdose. It's just like taking less of the same chemical pretty much, you'll pass out slower and may not die.
