General notion: If your mind or body gets broken, you have to stay alive and suffer.

Let's extrapolate this notion to other areas of life.

If your car is broken, you cannot replace it and you have to keep it.
If your relationship doesn't work, you cannot leave your partner.
If your job doesn't fulfill you, you are not allowed to resign.
If your business is failing, you have to keep it running despite increasing debt.

Isn't it crazy?

Not really no. Ending your life is painful for everyone around you. It leaves a total fucking mess. And most believe you only have one life though I think we keep going.

I completely understand wanting to commit suicide and having this frame of mind, but it really isn't so illogical from pro lifers. You can commit suicide without having to have a logical or moral justification for it. Morality is ultimately a social constraint. But the examples you give are societally acceptable because they don't cause societal harm.

You are right. I just wanted to emphasize how extremely difficult and ridiculous it would be if you couldn't escape from any unsolvable situation.

I know sorry it's just my autism I always kinda misinterpret. I know what you mean it's like we are trapped in a mental prison that none of us asked for.

I don't worry anymore about how those around me will feel as it's those fake people who are a massive reason for me going. This is the last and only time for me to be incredibly selfish

I agree with you but I think this is the main 'problem' with pro-lifers- they seem to think that ALL problems are solvable. Plus- even if the problem is only part-solved- that ought to be enough...

Look at illness. Not everyone who is in pain or who is ill gets granted assisted suicide. You seem to need to PROVE that you're untreatable.

I've had the exact same line of thought though. Like when a car is considered a write-off. When is a life a write-off? Sadly- I think it depends on the life... look at how different missing persons cases are reported. Some cases get global attention. Others get next to none. How much is a life worth? It likely varies when it comes to murder.

I suppose suicide is a different matter though. How much is autonomy worth? How much is it worth to keep people alive who may or may not be contributing taxes but who may well people consuming services like therapy and pharmaceuticals?

Put it this way- if a clumsy employee drops a precious artifact in a museum- they won't just bin it or replace it- they'll likely try to repair it because it brings in money.

Those examples can lead to sociatal harm though. You might as well be commiting suicide when you quit a job, it's not like they will benefit from you again. Heck, train workers in the USA legally can't quit despite the protests because they are "so important for society" Using a broken car can keep others from being able to drive safely on the road. Leaving your partner causes just as much heartbreak as dying, your not going to be happy with that person ever again.. Even if the business is failing, there are still employees who rely on your business for a paycheck and to live, you shut it down, they starve.

Suicide really should be viewed as just being another life decision, a personal choice as nobody is obligated to exist and I hate how people see suicide as being something that must be justified with reasons. People should just be able to exit this life any time they want and there is nothing wrong with that.
I think the reason as to why suicide isn't treated like other reasonable and valid life decisions is because the society needs slaves and suicide represents what many people fear which is death actually being preferable to life, people don't want to face the fact that existence isn't always worth enduring.

And we can add even more twist to it!

  • Your car is beyond repairable, but when you want to get rid of it, you are put in a prison and tortured until you pretend you want to keep it.
  • Your relationship doesn't work, so you are given pills that are supposed to make you believe the relationship does work, but in fact, the pills work very unreliably or don't work at all, and they give you headache, dizziness and sometimes permanent sexual dysfunction which just make your relationship worse.
  • Your job doesn't fulfill you, but resignation is seen as the most shameful thing ever. Also, they made the resignation process overly complex on purpose, and if you still want to resign there are chances that your job will become even worse and that you won't be able to resign anymore. What's more, you know that at the very end, they'll get rid of you anyways.
  • Your business is failing with increasing debt and you're forced to keep it running. Also, you have to listen to your employees repeating day after day the same random unsolicited advises, such as "it could always be worse", "it'll get better because it always gets better", "have you tried to increase the CapEx", although they have no idea what a CapEx is and they have never even looked at the numbers.
