Dissociating for as long as I remember and I guess I'm leaning more onto 'no', if we're talking about our own life here. I don't think I've ever taken life seriously, it all feels like everything I'm experiencing isn't happening, but I'm still a coward somehow.
Pros to this is that you can be on a constant "ignorance is a bliss" state. You won't feel that bad even when the state of the world is absolute shit, or even when your own life is on the road to absolute shit. You also won't have much attachment to things. Even when you were crying so much over someone some time ago, when you're over them, then you're permanently over them. Things in the past won't stay with you for long. Cons are being careless towards everything, including yourself. You'd end up making so many mistakes and hurting others because you didn't take things seriously enough. You may end up fucking up your own life too. You prob won't handle relationships well because of this. And now that I'm typing down the cons, I realize that I should change my answer to 'yes'...
Edit:
Thinking about it further though, I got some realizations just now if what you're referring to is about 'being alive'. I've wondered a few times if life itself is that important. Just life in its biological definition I mean, like simply the existence of any living organism and nothing else. Anyway, I think I've found my answer to this now. I think what actually matters is the prevention of suffering/pain, prevention of taking away someone's past, present, and future, plus their choice towards life. Like murder is immoral because it causes pain and suffering for the victim and others around them, takes away everything a person has (including the life they've led and the life ahead of them), and forces them to die. But these tragic things are still attached to how people view death, which is a part of why ending life is seen as a bad thing; even when death itself doesn't always directly cause tragedy. Like millions of microorganisms die each second, and that's ok, that's how nature is. Death itself is simply natural. A living organism preserving their life is also natural, since that's also how nature works. Life and death is neither positive or negative. Things only become negative when a living organism is sentient and is capable of experiencing the world because they can experience suffering. But still, sentient or not, I think life should still be taken seriously. Like those microorganisms are a necessity in the systems of nature so they have importance for that reason. And as for sentient beings, everyone(including animals) should be given an opportunity to live happily, as freely as possible, without suffering
Had these thoughts at 2am so this may not make sense and I kinda feel like I'm bullshitting :,)
