The last few weeks I've really been into painting again

I empathise a lot with robots, androids, AI, the like. Sometimes I feel like one when I draw--I don't create art based on my emotions. I create them based on prompts in my head. Like an art AI does. People criticise AI art... in a way, it makes me feel like I'm the one receiving the criticism, because I function in the same way AI art machines do. Many times I wish I were a robot so I wouldn't have to feel.

These are oil paintings.

I've stopped showing any of my art on the internet. The sentiment toward art has become so pessimistic and elitist. At least this will be a place that archives some of it once I die. These will probably be thrown away in real life.

I drew these for an old dear friend. ( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝)
However, I don't think he cared much for them which is 100% understandable since my art skills aren't that good at all.

The first drawing is very special to me since we both really liked an Anime series called, "Gushing Over Magical Girls".
I decided to draw both our favorite characters from the series. ( > 〰 < )♡
Sadly, I never got the chance to finish it, ink it and color it since it got destroyed in the rain. (╥﹏╥)

The second drawing that I drew for him was a gift and an apology for not being online for a week.
I never told him that during that week, I had a failed suicide attempt and a self harm attempt due to having a severe mental breakdown and for failing my attempt.

His favorite character in Gushing Over Magical Girls was Sayo Minakami. ( ≧ᗜ≦)
She was also my favorite, as well.
So, I decided to draw her with cat ears since I'm a fan of Neko Girls. (⁄ ⁄>⁄ω⁄<⁄ ⁄)​

WHATTTTTT these are so cute!!!!! I love the way you draw eyes!!! I'm sorry they didn't care much for them. I would be thrilled to recieve drawings like that, your style is adorable :)

I used to draw a lot more and my friends at the time would look up to me as a great artist. Nowadays, I've been drawing far less than I'd like. AHHHHH Mari!!! the colors you used in that drawing are so pretty, I loved the way you outlined some of the shadows with a more saturated color. The Madoka and Homura drawing is amazing too The kitten and flowers art is so beautiful and delicate, I really love your work I feel the exact same way, drawing has become really hard for me to do and it sucks

My first drawing in four years. The Last Entrance to Narnia. It portrays adulthood, something that's neat, orderly and materialistic. The reflection in the wardrobe is what left of Narnia to an adult: the glistening blue sea turned into an anonymous vase, the magical woods is a dried up houseplant and the love and magic is still there in the last blood red flowers that refuse to wither. The banana on the cello is a tiny rebellion against adulthood, an attempt to open that closed portal again. Because bananas aren't supposed to go on cellos, it's silly, it doesn't fit. Sometimes that's exactly what adulthood needs.

Sometimes I want to try drawing more experimental and abstract things that better reflect my feelings, but the thing is, I tend to repress my emotions a lot, to the point where I've been called out on it since childhood. That, mixed with my overall lack of drawing skills (I don't my drawings very well. Never had and probably never will), makes it a a difficult endeavor.

Sometimes, I still wonder why I even bother with drawing. Most of the time it just ends with me feeling unsatisfied. I constantly find myself wanting to quit, only to go back and start doing it again. Maybe it's because it's one of the only hobbies I have. Idk. It's weird to have something that you've done since childhood but are still not that good at. Most people around my age who've been drawing as long as I have are far more skilled than me. They're on a whole other level. I'm not typing this because I feel bad or anything. I'm not looking for pity. I guess I'm just venting a bit about something that's been on my mind a lot lately.

i thought the first one was appropriate to post since i made it right after my first attempt and quit my job a few years back. i remember a friend saying it had a lot of symbolism but i wasn't really thinking about anything while i drew it so that's just a coincidence lmao. the second one is more recent, i spent months on this commission for a friend, i've never worked that hard on anything before
