At least getting a heroin habit gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning, and gives me something to look forward to in the day.

Heroin for me is a coping mechanism and it keeps me alive. Sure I struggle and it's no walk in the park, but at least when I'm stoned I get relief from the existential dread and suicidal ideation that plagues my mind when I don't use.

People may call me crazy, which is legitimate, but at least as a heroin addict, practicing the necessary precautions (always using while on pharmacotherapy so I maintain a safety net tolerance) I still stay alive.

And if the time comes when the heroin stops working, I can always score a huge amount, stack with benzos and catapres, and I've got myself a nice little way to doze myself into oblivion

I think it makes sense and it can help for some people. I just dont have a supply myself (yet?). Using opioids in the past helped me, i look back and i only think they were beneficial

i'm not sure i could afford a heroin addiction

i'm also scared i would stop being suicidal and just wind up a heroin addict and i don't want to end up a thief. i suppose it might be different if i had unlimited means

Well heroin will just make me feel good for 3 months and then I'll be back to rock bottom either through tolerance or lack of money to buy it. Why delay the inevitable?
