guess what, i called the hotline roughly 26 times since december 2023 up until april of this year

i got in contact initially with a nice lady from a youth organization specializing in mental health since 2024 but later on she went on maternity leave and was switched with another very kind lady

thanks to her, i finally could visit a psychologist in a government subsidized "psychology center" to which she was present in every appointment with my consent

independently, i went to a first line psychologist who after maxing out the amount of allowed appointments recommended me to go to a mental hospital far away from me, got a referral from my GP so i can go there not far after the recommendation

i got in contact with a crisis team in a nearby hospital and maxed out the allowed appointments with them as well, who also recommended me to go to the same mental hospital the first line psych recommended

went to the mental hospital with my father to the intake talks with two psychologist to which i have bluntly admitted to them that i bought a rope, they said they will discuss it with the psych team to see if i can be admitted there

4 weeks no reply, no call, nothing

until finally, i got a call from them saying that i can't be admitted and that i have to go to the psychological wing of a hospital literally 16 minutes away from me

even if they were to accept me in, i'd have to wait 6 months in a waiting list

shortly after, the psychologist from the "psychology center" stopped working and is now replaced with someone whom i have yet to talk with

this is the "help" people kept talking about?????? this feels more like a bureaucratic show of tom and jerry, honestly didn't feel at all that i was progressing in any of the talks with the mental health professionals aside from that kind lady in the youth organization, am luckily not in my "worst" condition like i was back then but dear lord, if this is what i have been experiencing, how would other people with far more terrible mental states feel with this shit????

They don't necessarily hospitalise in UK for self harm and suicide attempts, I guess as there are so many of us. Sadly.

I called the Crisis Line and this is what they told me. They said the decision to hospitalise would be taken in conjunction with my team and family. I don't think they would. I don't want to be back in hospital in any case.

OP, I hope you find some help that helps you. sorry for all of our suffering.

UK is dog shit for mental health.

My GP tried to get me sectioned a few weeks ago.

The letter they sent back basically said "won't engage with support so no"

Like isn't that the whole point of being sectioned? To keep someone safe and get them urgent help?

Thankfully I know what I want so don't want to be sectioned but God help the people who actually want to live and need support
