I've been listening to this song over a few days, it's called "between the bars" by elliot smith
Turn it on, it's the best thing with the guitar that I've heard
I'm there for you tonight

Putting it on right away! Thank you <3
No, never heard of them before. How were they? May look them up.

Anarchist lyrics, good music as I remember. Been many years, though.

Now this is good stuff! But of course you have good taste. :)

Elliott smith ctb at the age of 33 I think. This song means so much to me. Brings back a lot of memories. I forgot about it years ago,now it's on repeat.
Check this one out, its about suicide. It has a small part in Russian.

I did not know him at all, great discovery. On repeat here, too. It actually is good that there are no memories for me, because my personal archive pulls all the wrong strings right now.

He was an uneasy soul, struggled with depression and drug use. Look him up.

Another great song:

I will look him up. It's at my most troubled I can write songs, I suppose this is often the case with art. I mean, you don't necessarily produce depressed/depressive stuff, it can be humorous and everything, but there is some anguished motivation.

This one is also great!

I taught myself English when I was super depressed as a teenager. Wouldn't have done that if I had not been depressed :)
How are you doing at the moment? I'm drinking tea in my room, chainsmoking, listening to music... don't know what else I'm supposed to be doing the day before ctb xD

Aha, I did the same! :) The amazing things one pulls off as a teenager. Was just working on it every minute I was awake, no problem. Nowadays good luck with that sort of focus.

Well, I give up and guess I will have to rely on talking to you on the main thread here.
Are you feeling any better now?

Ah, much better, not shaking now. This is a haven, and so much kindness!

Yup! It was five years ago that I sort of repeated the experiment with Mandarin, but only for a couple of months. Was very satisfying, though. Dreaming of characters all night as well.

Have you ever watched The Royle Family, Spaced, Peep Show? They're great British TV series, I used to binge watch them in my teens.
Misfits is great too if you want to take your mind off things for a bit.
Mandarin is analytical just like English, it simplifies things but the tones...XD must have been hard to pick up those.

I assume many of us on this site know and understand real suffering, therefore, we want to reach out. Anxiety and suffering should be part of my name, lol

You always hit right on spot, I've not even heard of them but the only TV series I've liked are British ones (Monty Python, for instance).

The tones were fantastic to learn. I would tilt my head up and down to go with the tones. :) Helped with remembering like a charm.

Those three I mentioned are like the best ever. Do watch them while you're here. The Royle Family is spot on how some of Russian working class families live, there were times I couldn't believe they weren't Russians speaking in Mancunian English :) Spaced is very subtle, I think I know the lines to all 14 episodes by heart. Peep show makes you cringe, it's just the height of British humour. I'm sure you'll like them :) the office is great as well. Skins is depressing but good, I only watched the first generation, but I still can't get over Chris dying xD

I'm sure I will, too! All of it sounds brilliant, and British humour is one of the things that makes life sufferable. :) This is such a pleasant surprise, often when anybody offers me a TV show, they have nothing to do with I like. Same goes for activities.

I know what you mean. People always suggest exercise for depression without realising you need motivation to go to the gym.

British humour is the best really. I just can't watch American shows. I do speak American English though, used to be fluent at British southern accent, then got an American friend here in moscow, have been speaking in the Great Lakes accent ever since xD I've even been able to fool American people, they normally take a good 5 minutes to notice somethings wrong

I can be very annoying with snarky comments if somebody sits me down in front of an American show against my protests. :P Often it is so dramatic, and I can't stand drama.

About same here, mine did not quite turn American but I started rhotacising because of exposure. Miss my accent a bit.

I feel like an impostor when I don't do the flap with words like better. It's long been bedder for me, I feel like the fucking queen of England doing British accent these days xD
American tv shows are absurd. Everyone's looking great all the time, even if they're a junkie or hungover.

Ahah, flapping no can do, I've got such royal ways. :P

Yeah, the world is ending and the main lady's hairdo does not have a strand out of place. Fuck me if I don't want to mess it up a bit for her.

Ahahah, I was just about to say that everyone's hair is always done no matter what. Like literally it doesn't matter if the Knights of apocalypse are coming over, the hair. Is. Just. Perfect.

This might seem odd to some but I have a lot of standup comedy, funny hidden camera show, and just plain learning shows (I'm a nerd/geek so enjoy learning) that I use as regular distraction to lift me up enough to get through a day. It's certainly not enough to keep me going long term, but it helps me at least not do anything in the moment so that I can carry my plan to ctb out with my best chance of it "taking"

If I woxihuanni or anyone viewing this wants to know any of them I'm happy to share. I can't promise you'll find what I find funny or that you won't have heard of my suggestions *shrug* If enough ppl are interested maybe I'll start a thread where everyone can post their own stuff that helps them laugh for a minute.

You made me laugh out loud. :)) Those fuckers never know what it is like to walk into a windy day with your freshly combed hair and end up scaring crows.

I think a thread definitely would be nice! It's generous of you to share your stash, and if people have different tastes they can add their own suggestions. It's all good.

You could give this track a listen. It's a remix of Tupac's Nothing to Lose by MimoTupac.

Ahah, hilarious! :) I remember this time I naively gobbled a small pack of dried apricots on the subway coming from work. I don't know how I made my home that day. There should be a warning on those things!

I'll have to watch that clip! I generally like Margaret Cho but sometimes she's a liiiiittle too crude for me. If you like crude & race jokes def Carlos Mencia! He's actually going to be coming near me right before I ctb but I'm a bit too uptight to laugh at his stuff in person I think :/

I was going to suggest for standup Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias. Here's some of his specials:

Some of his more recent stuff focuses on why to stay alive. Still funny, but for me not the way I want to be reminded he has hope in life

For comedic hidden camera Impractical Jokers but it's hard to pick just a few ones to link to
If you want their standup they go by The Tenderloins for that, tho Sal Vulcano has got a pretty good solo standup:

I'm not sure of anyone's age but those three are pretty good for recommending to strangers without offending. If anyone likes this stuff I can share more similar as well as more political, raunchy, race/religion, gender based, etc of stuff I'd be less likely to recommend to strangers. But if you grew up in the late 80s-90s like me and like raunchy stuff I've got a good one lol
Sorry the link to Sal's standup is to the very shortened version! If interested def search for long version instead!
