Discussion Religious people: how much do you actually practice?

Hey guys, I just had a curiosity as to what extent you follow your own religion. Just share parts you don't believe in or don't like. I'm just curious as to how to approach parts of my religion that I think are wrong.

I find this topic interesting.

I am somewhat Catholic. However, I put a lot of faith in the human soul and our internal morality. So, I don't follow Papal supremacy and Papal Infallibility and let my own self guide me. Not that I ignore Church leaders, I just use their words as a guide to my own inner soul.

Tangentially, that's my approach to my posting here. Even if I say something trite or wrong, if you know it's wrong - it still could be of use to you.

I mean, the texts themselves are already impossible to truly take literally due to the contradictions so I think as long as you believe in the core principles then it doesn't matter. All these stories and such are basically just fancy ways to deliver the same few points anyway.

Not a Christian anymore, but it, my practice changed over the course of my life. I started off as a Catholic, so of course I not only went to Mass every weekend, but did all the extra sacramental bullshit that you have to do. I prayed quite frequently, and of course, did the tithing. Then I switched to non-denominational Christian and went to church once a week, tithed a little bit, but did not pray much unless I really needed something. Now I do not do any of those things.

However, I have always tried to live my life in a very loving way, because I think regardless of religion, it is, in fact, the best way to live. So I might not participate in the rituals anymore, but I still definitely try to live the philosophy.

So, this is just a question, but in Catholicism its said that only those who are in a state of grace (meaning free of unconfessed sin) can receive the body and blood of Christ. Knowing that the Eucharist signifies a bond with the Lord, why would Catholicism reject those with sin from receiving the Eucharist when the very act of having sin means that they probably need God the most?

Sorry if it's hard to understand.

in regards to my specific church's practices, I don't share its views on trans people (idk what these are for certain tbh, but I think they'd probably be negative if they ever discussed them) because I don't think they're biblical as the Bible itself doesn't say anything about trans people~ I fit within its general orthodoxy across all other issues tho~ :) I didn't always agree with everything ofc tho, but I learned more over time, including the reasons for certain beliefs (such as for monergism)~ Christian denominations tend to function along logic chains, in that the same logic required to attain one belief will generally eventually net you all the others of that denomination the more you consider and learn about them~ as such, by learning the logic chains for topics that I do understand like for the Eucharist, baptism, etc., I can assume that those that I don't understand (like for monergism) are true too~ :) ofc, if I found reason to convert to another denomination, I'd naturally adopt their positions on the issues I know less about~ :)

also, I wish I were a better Christian ofc, but we are all corrupted by sin and can only do so much~

if you're interested in Christianity (based on your reply to Gild-Holm-'Ur), I'd recommend looking into Anglicanism as it tends to be more tolerant of different view points with beliefs ranging from theological conservatism to theogical liberalism and Anglo-Catholicism to Anglo-Calvinism all being welcomed~ :)
