Help Refining my plan

I'm trying to refine my plan and would like some advice. For the longest time i thought i would get a high caliber handgun, drive somewhere secluded, call the cops and tell them where i was, and then shoot myself. I want to call the cops and do it in my car so there's the least amount of trauma possible, but i'm worried i'll chicken out and end up in a psych ward. i also don't know where i would put my note in this situation because i would want it near my body but in a car it's highly likely to get blood on it. and i don't live with my parents so there's not another easily accessible place for me to put it. after doing some research on here, an alternate plan would be to drive down to one of the cities in my state that i would like to visit, get a hotel, and shoot myself there with a shotgun. i would put a sign on the door telling people not to come in and to call the police but i'm not sure if people would listen to that. this would probably be easier for me since in my state you have to be 21 to buy a handgun, but only 18 to buy a shotgun. i've also seen that shotguns are more effective than handguns but i'm wanting it to be as fast as possible. my ideal scenario would be how ronnie mcnutt died, instant and effective. my concern with the hotel situation is that since i wouldn't be in my city, my family wouldn't find out immediately and i would be an unclaimed body, especially because my face will probably be unidentifiable.

Trust the fact that if you fired a shotgun in a hotel room you won't need to leave a note on the door. Shotguns are LOUD and send a very clear message.
