Quick little video showing damage from a shotgun

Thought it may be helpful for some people who haven't been around guns to get a picture of why shotguns are such an effective method and why I often claim they are foolproof with basic knowledge of how to do it.

The 1st video is a guy showing a contact blast on a ballistic gel head. He aims at the temple not inside the mouth, but shows how destructive it is. Actual demonstration starts at about 4:50 in the video.

2nd link is to an archive of the old bestgore site, where I just linked to see shotgun suicides. I will warn you there are seriously NSFW videos and a few aren't just the aftermath, but recorded the blast itself in full so watch those at your own risk. A bit off-topic but for those of you interested in the method or have brought up/fear cases of failed attempts with firearms, it's worth noting how many of those videos have people aiming under the chin pointing up rather than through the mouth aimed towards the brain.

Not advocating anyone to do anything, just discussing and analyzing.

youre absolutely right, im set on shotgun and have been for a while, unless for some reason access is impossible, a shotgun with some studying of the anatomy of the human head and brain, and shotguns themselves, is literally 1000% going to work. Aim at the brain stem and youre done for, and even if for whatever reason you mess up and bleed out, youre gonna bleed out. its a guaranteed death. Not to mention theyre ridiculously cheap for a single fire shotgun, can get a small starter one perfect for self infliction for like 200 bucks lol

I'd much prefer to use a handgun and shoot myself in the side of the head, I've seen lots of videos of people doing this and they're dead instantly without their head exploding into a million pieces like what would happen with a shotgun.

yeah anyone whos a gun nut or even shot a shotgun a few times would know that theres no stopping death if you press one of those things to the back of your head, the only way you could fuck it up is if you shoot your face off. but everyone here should know to not aim straight up into your chin.

i wouldnt use anything smaller than a .44 caliber tbh.. even then id be scared about narrowly missing the brain stem, shotgun blast is way too wide to miss. i seriously dont reccomend a handgun or a rifle. you want something with a wide spray. yes its messy and gross, but lets face the facts here, were killing ourselves, its not exactly an ideal situation no matter what.


Plus who cares about how it looks after? thats literally the point, it doesnt matter anymore.

Look at this with a very tiny 32 grain bullet. The bullet is 5.56 mm . Compare to my 9mm handgun Bullet of 113 grains.Velocity kills



Look at the expansion in that block is about the size of a head. The pressure wave seems about 4 inches radius imo will kill the brain stem from 4 inches away. All the wave has to do is bust one of those blood vessels supplying the horrible brain stem

I hate this monstrous brain stem that is identical in most animals

Check this video and you see the expansion is much less with larger bullets. Why because lower velocity.

which kind of bullet is needed? Slug shot?

Personally I agree with you if I was going handgun I would want .44 or at least .357, but yeah I also don't consider handgun to be absolutely foolproof like shotgun is when done right.

Yeah it's insane how destructive the expansion from velocity can get, good videos demonstrating that. It is funny though regarding size, there's just so much comfort for me holding shotgun shells as big as they are.

I never heard of failed attempt with handgun or shotgun.. yet you see people telling you failing is possible. Unless your playing around or have parkinson your hands are shaking, you will never survive shooting anywhere in your head and it's instant. I don't know how to use a gun but if I learn I'll prob go with this method. In Texas we have at least 40 teens suicide with shot gun since last year.. it's prob the easiest way to go too.. none have time for all Ns methods

Yeah the rates are incredibly low, but just for complete transparency there is a video on that bestgore site of a guy who shot his face/chin off. That really is the most likely screw up is people copying what they see in movies and just shooting straight up missing the brain, but even with that it's incredibly rare people survive.

I agree and I saw the video we don't know if it was a suicide right? I don't think a normal person will shoot the face like that…
