I have some questions about the CO method. I had a look in the CO megathread for answers, but I couldn't find any, so I am asking here.

Why is it so important that you use a barbecue for this method? Could I not just heat the charcoals on the stove, or in the oven? I have heard that people use the oven to heat coals to heat up shisha, so could I not heat up my coals in the same way?

My next question: why is it so often recommended that you perform this method in a car, tent or small room? Could you I not just perform this method by placing, say, a 60 gallon trash bag over my head? This would allow me to use a much smaller quantity of charcoal, and would be much faster. It takes roughly 135g/m3 of charcoal to reach a concentration of 10 000ppm, which is between 6 and 7 times the LD50 concentration. A 60 gallon trash bag holds one quarter of the volume of one cubic meter of space. Does this mean that I could perform this method using just 35 grams of coal inside of 60 gallon trash bag?

Could it really be that simple? I presume that I must have made some mistake, because if else, this method is a piece of cake.

i used co method. I don't understand why you put coals in the oven when you can just set them on fire with some paper? Small rooms are needed so that the concentration of co is as high as possible. You don't need a garbage bag on your head :) It will be enough just to lock yourself in a small room and heat up the coal in some kind of barbecue-type container

That sounds far more difficult. I don't have access to a small bbq, and I coulnd't store one without raising suspicion.

I have an oven and coals at hand. And the bag I have is airtight. Am I set to attempt this method?

because you can kill your neighbours if you do it indoors.

If I attempted inside, it would be in a well ventilated room.

I will be attempting inside an airtight bag, so what does it matter anyway.

The coals need to be burned off outside. If you light them in your oven, your home will fill up with smoke. That's why you want to use a few coals, I guess. So then what? You're going to somehow syphon the emissions into a bag without melting it. Then put the bag around your head. It's an unusual way to go, and if it goes wrong you could damage yourself.
How are you going to get the gas in the bag? Im trying to think of how this could be made safer, for you and your neighbours, and remember that co left too long will stabilize to co2 as soon as it can. But a bong, with burned off coals in the bottom, would emit what you want, and it would be cooled enough, be a bit of a chimney that a bag can be attatched to.

I would be using less than 200 grams of coals. If I opened all of the windows in my house, and if I used the stove as well as the oven, I think that could dissipate the smoke.

I'm not trying to transfer the CO to the bag. I will place the coals inside the bag on the ground, then I will secure the bag around my neck with an elastic.

Coals in a pan? On the stovetop... Idk what would even happen there. You know this is odd, right? A grill is anything that won't burn that can hold coals. A metal bucket, a hole in the dirt. A frying pan can be a grill. I think you will need to light the coals at some point.
By putting coals in the bag you can choke them from depriving them of oxygen, and then they'll go out.
And you will most likely melt the bag.

Nah, I'll be placing on the stove directly. Shisha smokers heat their coal this way, so I know it works.

So I could just light some coals in a bucket for this method? I don't actually need a BBQ?

By putting coals in the bag you can choke them from depriving them of oxygen, and then they'll go out.

I'll wait 30-45 minutes after lighting the coals before I put them in the bag. Would this help?

And you will most likely melt the bag.

I will be placing either brick or tile underneath the coals, and something over it as well.

-I know nothing of shisha smokers.
-Yeah, as long as the bucket is metal, clay or stone, you know, burn-proof?
-I don't think waiting will help when putting the coal in the bag. Even though they're ashy, they're still burning, and you want them burning. That's why I was thinking about putting them INSIDE a bong, because you can feed them oxygen still, like from the choke or the bowl-hole. Idk... It was a silly train of thought.
-The bricks should protect the bag from melting, unless the bricks heat up. And they will after a while.

Neither do I, I just saw a video of them heating their coals this way.

The concentration of CO2 will build up to lethal levels within minutes, and kill within a few more minutes. Could the coals go out within this time? How much oxygen do coals need to stay alight?

No, I think it's a good idea. I don't have access to a bong though. And you would have to make a hole in the bag and reseal it around the bong.

The bricks should protect the bag from melting, unless the bricks heat up. And they will after a while.

The issue is, how long would that take? It doesn't matter if the bag melts when you are already dead. I think the only way to find out is trial and error.

It could work. Or you could pass out from asphyxiation, wake back up in a few seconds and tear the bag off before you know where you are. Or you could give yoursel brain damage.
Maybe some trial and error, but with a gage if you can get one.
