Hi everyone. New user, but I lurked here for a little while before making an account. I'm poor so I don't have access to a lot of things but I did think about the plastic bag method.

What would be the best way to keep it as sealed as possible?

What specific kind of plastic bag would be best? (Shopping bag, trash bag, etc)

I'd like to use this method because it's easy access.

hey mate! welcome to the forum. deeply sorry about whatever drove you here, I'm sure you don't deserve it. you'll find the nicest band of misfits here. anyway, to the point- I'll admit I don't know much about the bag method, but if you look under suicide discussion- sticky threads- suicide resources or methods or something like that (it's a post by SS at the bottom of the sticky list) you'll be able to research it there. however, if you have questions about firearms, shallow water blackout, or hanging I can answer those! those are my preferred methods. wishing you love and peace, mate <3

I'm not going to tell you the "best way" to use a plastic bag but I am going to say I hated the feeling of wearing one. I started feeling aroused and a whole mess of other gross feelings. It's also easy to go wrong because I think you can thrash while you're unconscious, tear the bag, and end up with brain damage in addition to whatever's pushing you towards this. I'm poor too and I'd sooner use gravity.

I couldn't find much regarding plastic bag methods when I used the search feature so I must have missed it. Sorry! I'll check it again, but I would like to keep the thread up in case anyone else's question could be answered here.

I have heard of this, and I am sorry you felt that way. The reason I chose his method is ease of access to plastic bags and the variations that I can get.

My idea is that I put plastic bag in a plastic bag, kind of like layering them, then using the plastic bag handles to create a tie around my head.

how about SWB (Shallow Water Blackout)? it's the method I've been looking at. theoretically, all you need is a glass of water. I believe the thread is called exit bag method for what you're thinking of, but I'd research some other methods too! you never know if you'll find one you end up liking. good luck mate <3

Oh of course! How silly. The exit bag method was talking about having access to gases which I don't have access to so I wasn't sure if it still applied. All I have is plastic bags and I'm confident in my decision to ctb with them. The problem is that I want to make sure I can get the seal right (or at least tie it correctly using the handles so no air gets in).

sorry, like I said I haven't researched that method much. didn't mean to lead you in the wrong direction. sounds like you'll just be using carbon dioxide to ctb, which is quite unpleasant. like holding your breath but not being able to make yourself breathe. SI will kick in strong, but far be it from me to stop you. you could try using zipties at the point where your neck meets your head? I don't think it exactly has to be an airtight seal, just enough to keep the carbon in. just make sure not to keep anything sharp close to cut the zipties with if you're committed.

Should I feed the zip ties through the plastic bag handles and tie it that way? I don't want the zip ties to dig into my neck. I just want the bag to do me in, so I'd like to avoid spending money to buy them. Also I want to make sure if there's a different in the type of plastic bag i use. Is there a difference significant enough to matter?

sorry, a different what? also- you could try putting some kind of padding around your neck, even though I know you said you don't want to buy anything. you could pillage some from an old backpack strap if you have one.
scotch tape might also work and not dig in

Sorry, I was asking if there was a difference in plastic bags in terms of quality. Like do plastic bags from one store are more durable or air tight or made of different materials that make the process easier? As for passing, I could put my hoodie on. Sorry if I'm not clear enough I just want to make his work. I can get more plastic bags for free because some stores can give you them for free.

I don't think it matters terribly much, as long as it's one of the really light flexible kind, if you know what I mean. floppy, almost. a bag that's too rigid will be hard to keep down and let too much air out. I think ShopRite still has that kind if you're in the US. anyway, my friend, it's getting close to midnight where I live, and I want to see if I can get any sleep tonight. I wish you luck if you attempt tonight and if not I'll see you in the morning, love and peace mate<3

Hello everyone. Just bumping the thread instead of making a new one. My questions remain the same.

Is there a difference in plastic bags (grocery, trash bags, different stores, etc)?

Which bags would yield better results?

How should I tie the plastic bags for maximum effectiveness?

Did you tie the bag well? What kind of bag did you use? What would you prefer as an alternative?

Yes I did. Several different ones/trash, grocery store plastic, even the dry cleaner plastic...that says all over it warning suffocation...yea right i wish i could get so lucky. At this point I'd give all the money I have to find a full proof method. I hate my fucking life

Foolproof (meaning it's so infallible & reliable that even a fool can't mess it up). Dry cleaner plastic is pretty flimsy as plastics go… it has the warning labels so parents will keep it away from their children who can easily suffocate on it. I wish you the best, and I hope you can find your foolproof method.

This is very disappointing to read. I don't have a lot of money so platsic bags were my go to. Could other bags work?

Not really sure what you're looking to hear… this "method" is going to be absolutely brutal. Some who have had no other way & been desperate to CTB have made it work, but I can't imagine choosing this over any other method.

It's more of an accessibility thing. I just want to know how to make it work..

Teens in psych wards have made it work (not that I think it's a good thing, I don't, I just think it's a thing that one is either able to figure out due to sheer desperation, or not).

I have actually tried this method with some variations. I tried it just with the bag, I tried it with hyperventilation, I tried it with helium balloons.
None of it was useful. And you are right, its very very brutal . I was very desperate to make it work, but I couldn't get past through it due to breathlessness and this breathlessness could have led to brain damage without ending life successfully.
So, unless one has access to inert gas, plastic bag asphyxiation will be a part of non methods that shouldn't be attempted.

Ok, that did remind me… there have been a few posts about combining sealed bags with nitrous oxide, but ig it has to be a pretty big bag. I might even choose this method for myself if it were more of a tested & trusted method.

So you did feel something when you tried, but ended up not going through with it?
Due to my breath, the bag got moisture and upon breathing, the surface of the bag started sticking to my face. I kept on going as far as I found stretch it. Breathlessness made me take my head out of the bag.
I tried hyperventilation. I felt dizzy after hyperventilation. I entered the bag assuming that i can stay without breath longer. It did work but then, same, breathlessness due to CO2 happened and I had to take my face out of the bag. And this is when I was extremely desperate to die.
I read on SaSu that inert gases can help. I went to a party shop, i asked that i wanted to buy a helium cylinder, he denied to sell it. I purchased few big balloons from him, with the thought in my head that I'll use these balloons to blow helium into the bag. Interestingly, these helium balloons do not have pure helium. Soooo, it was just as useless.
I thought if I can use alcohol to beat SI. Based on my experiments and experiences with alcohol. Unless I'm out and unconscious completely, it'll not work.
So, the only ways this can work is, if this method is combined with an inert gas or CO.
Or, if you do something to lose consciousness and you fade out, and have the plastic bag on your head. Only then can it work out

Otherwise, it's a non method that'll never be successful. There's another case when it can work, if someone can hold breath for like 10+ minutes.. i haven't seen anyone who has been able to do that, so that's virtually impossible..

Yes, it needs to be a pretty big bag.
Besides, if someone can access inert gas, it's better to go for a more inert gas oriented setup instead of using a plastic bag.
It's a good fast method if you have Inert gas with you... The only problem is the setup .and the access to quantity of gas

The main issue is that I'm poor and don't have the money for inert gas. I am able to collect grocery bags and put them inside each other. That's all I can get. I'm really sorry for sticking with this method but it's literally all I have. I can get quite a few grocery bags.

🫂🫂❤️ I can understand.. And you don't need inert gas. There are other ways that don't need as much money. You don't need to be sorry🫂 i can feel your situation. I was in the UK and I wanted to ctb desperately and I checked the price of one small helium cylinder with 80% pure helium, it costed 30£. So, if i had to buy like 2-3 to ensure that i have enough helium to ctb, it would mean i needed £100 just for the helium and then to setup for the method, it would take more money . So £150 was the estimate. I am an Indian and I was not earning that time. £150 is too much for an Indian. It means 15000 Indian rupees approximately.
So, i had to drop that idea as i didn't have that much money to spare that too when there was no guarantee.
I purchased a rope from Amazon that costed me 40£ . I attempted partial with that but for me it didn't work . There are several others who are able to use it. And a suggestion that I got from a fellow member that belt of bathing robe will be better for partial.
So, may be, look at the other methods on this site and see if there's any other method that can help you achieve peace in a peaceful way. Plastic bag is very painful. Despite being desperate, i couldn't achieve my goal with it.
So, plan well❤️🫂 wish you love and luck in whatever you choose ❤️
