Hey! I get the option to "Start chat" when I hover over someone's username and I messaged a few people that way but now I can't find those messages and I don't seem to have access to the chat yet. Does it mean those messages are lost? Or, if not, will I just not see the other person's reply anywhere? Thank you!

Probably you need more messages / posts on here. Then you will have access to the chat. There you should find the messages.
