  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

For anyone wondering about why acid reducers aren't recommended anymore, the acidic stomach environment will interact with nitrite to form nitric oxide and make you pass out faster. Also, an antacid won't affect the amount of nitrite absorbed per this study:

I never did see that study. Maybe you can make a thread about it? I'm sure so many people are wondering.

I know I was wondering for a while, but after a lot of research about the biochemistry of sodium nitrite ingestion, I learned that nitric oxide is a good thing and will help lower blood pressure and have a protective effect on the organs should the attempt fail. I might make a thread on it later

Yeah. It acts as a neuroprotectant also.
Which in theory I guess you would want more nitric oxide right?
Incase of a failed attempt? More protection!

The other side of the coin is that, without hypotension, there will be no or less severe headache. This is something to consider when having no access to opioid painkillers (small doses of paracetamol or ibuprofen may be better than nothing, but not exactly a gold standard). Also, one symptom of low blood pressure in and of itself is nausea.

I'm mentioning it all just in case someone wonders whether the previous "generations" of SN-users were somehow misled by antacid recommendations. One can do well with or without them.

Yeah you can do with or without them, it's really up to the individual in the end. Also in the study I mentioned, omeprazole neither helped nor hurt the absorption of SN, it just affected hypotension.

For those reading, if you want to pass out faster, don't use an antacid. Nitric oxide will be formed and lower blood pressure. However, the drop in blood pressure will make you have a bad headache, so be aware of that.
