Seeing as I'm not catholic the news just made me feel old because I'm old enough to remember the last time the pope died. Also kinda crazy that it happened right after Easter. That can't be a good sign.
Why? I think most people's read of the timing is positive. He lived just long enough that he could finish Lent and celebrate Easter, the symbol of hope and resurrection.
Right after JD Vance met with the Pope. Hmmm( ï¿£-ï¿£). Let's just hope the next Pope isn't an American. Those darn Americans seem to be only causing trouble lately

He did more to advocate for the impoverished and to liberalize the church with respect to LGBTQ people than anyone, and he did it in spite of the pre existing establishment. I'll miss him.

I don't know much about catholic traditions I just know Easter as the day Jesus came back from the dead so in my mind someone significant to the church dying right after that just felt ominous to me.
At 88 years old, having been in Hospital for 5 weeks or so, I wasn't really surprised at the news. Just kind of envious of the top rate medical care and looking after he'd have been given during his last illness.
Didnt hate him or like him so I dont care as much. Of course I remember he said something about LGBTQ+ being alright in religion and so many people are shitting on him for this after his death it's odd and just weird to hate on someone because of what they stood for.

I feel like people saw it as good timing as well. I am an atheist and even i thought it was a weird coincidence that he made it through holy week and then died the following day. But then that's also what gets me riled up about religion,. Because religious people think that's an actual miracle. Any of them bothering to think how much he must have physically suffered in these past few months?
Did not know he died until my Jewish friend told me I have no opinion on the matter. Dude was old so it is not surprising. Although I would probably die too after having to deal with Vance.

he seemed like the least problematic pope, but he was still a bigot and i think people have forgotten that because he was such a different vibe from the previous creep.
i'm not happy he's dead, but i don't feel sad that he's dead either. i just kind of don't care.
