I'm socially very, very right and economically a borderline communist. I really hate it. I'm too left for most right wingers and too right wing for most left wingers. What complicates this even further is that I'm a monarchist and do support Austrofascism. I'm just a disgusting chimera of political believes.

I didn't understand anything yo wrote, could you please explain it?

In what sense? Are you a Nazi as in far-right, antisemetic NSDAP national socialist or a person that believes in a combination of nationalism and socialism?
It was in jest

I am waiting for a rationalist party to show up and overhaul the broken political systems we have. One that does not ignore reality in favour of ideological narrative. That wants costed policies that have some accountability built into them. One that treats oppositional debates like a debate club and demands sources are cited and questions are actually answered! That views the opposition as not an enemy but a counterpoint. That people that boo and jeer are thrown out because it is not a pantomime. Same for if they sleep, show up drunk or coked out their mind, they get a warning and then fired. (This is what happens in every other job I can think of! not politics though just apologise and it is all fine.) A party that pushes to get rid of ridiculous biases that skew results regardless of what side you are on. Gerrymandering, and first past the post need to go, there are more sensible systems out there. As does lobbying with financial incentive. Until all that happens it does not matter what your political leaning is. As your vote has little mathematical merit and the structures in place cause you to gain the opposite of what you voted for, even if your elected party won. Till then it all feels like pointless bread and circuses and the illusion of meaningful choice for us plebs.

Far left. Faaar left, as in, I've gone further left than the Dems, the Libertarians, and the Green Party.

I think I may be a Sandinista; I keep meaning to check their website.

Fair warning: This post is probably going to turn into a flame war in short order. Recently I asked people what their trusted news sources were, and in no time the thread had devolved into an absolutely nauseating shitshow of fringe-right conspiracy theory, proud Trump voters, and recommendations for "news" websites that were nothing more than undisguised outlets for supporting racism, misogyny, and xenophobia.

I was disturbed enough after looking at one of the recommendations for what at least one person considered a legitimate news source, that I asked a mod to take the entire thread down.
I've nevr heard of Sandinista?! Will
Have to look up . Dya recks there are loads of far rights in here ?! Oh noooo :(

To be fair, Al Jazeera and Telesur were safe recommendations. By your comment, TMBS on YT would be a good one too.

I believe in moderation. When I look back over human history, it seems that the most successful societies have been those where change happened through a consensus across the broadest possible range of society. The UK, with its parliamentary system, is a good example of this sort of society - it developed over time from a feudal society in the early 17th century to a society with respect for religious diversity and property rights, eventually to a society with a generous welfare state.

I think the British industrial revolution - which is where all of our modern technology originated - is a very good sign of the sort of progress that can happen in a society based on tolerance, individual liberty, moderation and consensus.

The US is another example of a country which developed through moderation. It has a constitution which ensures that changes in the legal system can only occur through a laborious and litigious process, which can be slowed down considerably or even stopped by any large faction with a strong enough axe to grind.

The trouble with other forms of society is that they are at much greater risk of developing towards despotism and instability. Some nations, like Singapore, have been able to balance an unfree political system with a wildly successful economy and a moderate level of individual rights, but these examples are rare.

Economically leftist, socially conservative, coming from a far-left leaning (not communist, but not far off), liberal home.

That's so funny, because economically I'm more right leaning, and socially I'm completely far-left.

I honestly believe such a party is unlikely to form in the US, much of Europe, and/or most of Asia. The African continent is repressed by neo-colonial powers, the newest being China. All that's left is Latin America but the 3 most prominent countries: Brazil, Cuba, and Venezuela are either entangled with US sanctions, embargos, CIA shenanigans, or have a fascist in office that essentially wants to commit collective suicide.

US hegemony (I prefer empire) has to collapse before an opportunity for rationality to enter politics can be dreamed of. Even then there's a relatively small window of opportunity for a global progressive shift before an imminent decline in human activity.

I lean towards the conservative party. I find the arguments better structured, rational and supported. I'm not a fan of Trump's rhetoric, however, I can value what he has done for the economy and the African American community. Poverty has gone down, pockets are fuller and people are no longer afraid to ask questions that should be asked. On the other hand, I do support a woman's right to choose abortion and I support most movements within the LGBT community.
My only "concern" regarding the left is how emotion-driven there stand seems to be.

Canadian politics is crappy too, but we all voted today. Pretty much everyone i know went ABC (anyone but conservatives) and NDP just happened to be top of the ballot. We will probably get a conservative government though, its just how Canada works. Try the new thing, OH NO CHANGE, go back to the tried and true.
