I have had police welfare checks before.
The police were always kind, professional and highly empathetic.
We automatically associate the police with having done something wrong or being carted off to court, but from my experience welfare checks are nothing to worry about. Though of course I fully understand the surprise of the police coming to the door when you were not expecting them.
I guess the alternative is that the state doesn't check on the wellbeing of vulnerable people.
I know which world I'd prefer to live in...
