Hello, I'm new here but have been lurking for a while. Your thread gave me the final push to join up.
I went to Beachyhead a couple of years ago with the intention of jumping. I chickened out but I did some research first, some of which you might be interested in.

1. There is a lot of YT videos which might help avoid Samaritans (while the advice to watch out for people wearing red was good advice be aware that they're not ALL wearing red, they could be wearing anything at all.) & shows what it looks like up there (but good to go & check it out in person first if possible) & there's other useful info in them as well.

2. I caught the train to Eastbourne & walked up, mainly to avoid detection.
People who use a taxi to go up there & appear distressed or in any way suspicious (even being alone can appear suspicious) get caught out because the drivers have a special code they can use to alert the dispatch person in their office who then calls the police to come & stop you.

3. Going to the pub alone, especially if you appear distressed/anxious/suspicious often results in the staff calling the police (&/or Samaritans/other).

But if you chicken out & need a taxi back to the station they're happy to call one for you.

4. There used to be flowers & crosses where people had successfully jumped from, they are no longer there.
Jumping from the wrong place can lead to failure (& usually bad injuries & a rescue mission which puts others in danger) because you can land on outcrops of rock. Most of beachyhead & nearby is not a sheer drop even though it looks like it in most places.
Hope this is helpful for you. I'll add more if I think of anything.

You slowly sail down to the ground as it acts as a parachute, you walk off whistling(might have to swim)

Thank you for the advice. I'm planning on taking the train anyway as it will end up being the cheaper option where I'm from. As for the pub, I think I'll be okay as I'm quite good at faking a joyful pub crawler.

Thanks especially for the advice on the cliff as well, the joy of beachy head is the almost certain chance of death so I'll make sure I find a good spot :)

I did a recce at Beachy Head last year. I went in the pub alone and I spent quite a bit of time stood right at the edge at several spots. I wasn't approached by anyone, so I'm not sure what this red t-shirts thing is about.

The red shirts is in reference to the video link that PJFord posted which is about the BeachyHead chaplains who wear red shirts.
There is a limited number of chaplains/Samaritans/other prolifers so it sounds like you managed to visit at a time when there were none there (or possibly you didn't notice them subtly watching you)
You obviously managed not to attract attention or suspicion while in the pub or at the 'head, that's good for you, I definitely wouldn't manage to get away with a prejump pub visit.
Anyway, as I said... I chickened out! The advice I posted was stuff that came up in my research but lots of people manage to avoid detection & jump from there.
