What song do you think reminds you of the overall feel of the forum? I think this song is about as perfect as it gets and I just discovered it recently.

Funeral Cry by Dark Sanctuary. That is the most relatable one for me at least as the lyrics are about death (of course it reminds me of this forum as it is my username). I cannot think of any other songs at the moment. I am jealous of people who can still enjoy music.. life is so depressing.

This song kinda fits with my experience of SS in a way :-)

EDIT: Just added the lyrics :-)

Inside a broken clock
Splashing the wine
With all the rain dogs
Taxi, we'd rather walk
Huddle a doorway with the rain dogs
For I am a rain dog too

Oh, how we danced and we swallowed the night
For it was all ripe for dreaming
Oh, how we danced away all of the lights
We've always been out of our minds

The rum pours strong and thin
Beat out the dustman with the rain dogs
Aboard a shipwreck train
Give my umbrella to the rain dogs
For I am a rain dog too

Oh, how we danced with the Rose of Tralee
Her long hair black as a raven
Oh, how we danced and you whispered to me
You'll never be going back home

Oh, how we danced with the Rose of Tralee
Her long hair black as a raven
Oh, how we danced and you whispered to me
You'll never be going back home

The Ocean Doesn't Want Me

The ocean doesn't want me today
But I'll be back tomorrow to play
And the strangels will take me
Down deep in their brine
The mischievous braingels
Down into the endless blue wine
I'll open my head and let out
All of my time
I'd love to go drowning
And to stay and to stay
But the ocean doesn't want me today
I'll go in up to here
It can't possibly hurt
All they will find is my beer
And my shirt
A rip tide is raging
And the lifeguard is away
But the ocean doesn't want me today
The ocean doesn't want me today

-- Tom Waits

Which type of angels do you like better, strangels or braingels?

I guess it depends on how you define them, but if I think of "strangels" as strangers who do nice things and "braingels" as people who just think about doing them, I think I would prefer strangels :-)

But it's a good choice of song, the Ocean Doesn't Want Me. You just kinda know it's been written by a guy who's been up to his waist in the sea a few times trying to work out if he wants to get into deeper waters and have to toss his beer away or stay waist deep. You can't do both, well I guess you could but I don't think you'd enjoy the beer much :-/

Is that from that JVC 80s movie Bloodsport? I think that's what it was called.

I don't know what it is about 80s movies, something about the film quality, like the way the actual film looks, is quite comforting. This explains why I watch the Alien series of films to relax when I can't sleep, which absolutely baffles everyone around me.

I haven't heard that one in a while! I thought it was put on a rocket and blasted into the sun a few years back :-)

But the lyrics certainly resonate, even though at least 30% of the trauma I'm carrying in my head probably is directly caused by hearing that song so much! ;-)

For me, it has to be 'how to never stop being sad' by dandelion. It's not bc of the depressing lyrics but because whenever I listen to this song, I always come to this forum to read about how other people are struggling. It helps me understand that I am not alone in this and that my emotions are valid.

Please know I'm meant to love you till I did
If I'm to slip beneath a train meant to take me
Know that I believe that it was worth it
Tell my friends goodbye
Tell my almost ex-wife
That I loved her and left her too soon"

You just stay inside with me today
Can't you see it's gonna rain
Yeah, can't you see it's gonna rain
Yeah, it's gonna rain
And don't you wanna get warm
And don't you wanna get dry
And don't you wanna stay
Can't you see it's gonna rain
So won't you come inside with me today
'cause I can see it's gonna rain"

It's become cliche, but this is one of the core suicide anthems.

Sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep
I'm tired and I
I want to go to bed

Sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep
And then leave me alone
Don't try to wake me in the morning
'Cause I will be gone

Suicide by Isaac Dunbar
the last verse is about not being suicidal anymore but it is very short and cliche so i feel like it was put in there to keep people from criticizing it

The Sounds of Silence- Simon and Garfunkel

"The Sound Of Silence"

Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a streetlamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools," said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence."

We are all trying not to be casualties. But sometimes we lose that fight and noone can be blamed for that. That is just life
