just curious if people here has a comforting phrase too. For me it's "there is still time" from I saw the TV glow
I like how it became a trend on TikTok with adding this line to different media
The phrase is about being true to yourself. That's it's not yet late to break free from not your life (and basically about being Trans…..)
I don't know…. I've been overly using this phrase to myself for awhile and I kinda feel warmth inside?
Like…. I am broken. I am in the "wrong" body. But there is still time. I can go to doctor, I can use binder, earn for top surgery, I can get leg braces….
I really want a ring with "there is still time" to spin it on my finger. I just gotta figure out how to do that cause I'm to broke to hire someone to do that.
It's just…. This sentence feels like a blanket. It's hard to explain. I usually got very angry at the "words of encouragement" as they never actually helped and sounded empty. Like "you'll get better". No I won't. I am disabled. Forever. But…. There is still time just resonates differently. It doesn't fill like "shut up with your problems" or "don't dramatize" like most catchy phrases do and it's not giving you the false hope of catching on and lying to you.
Because yeah. There is still time. I might not be able to use that. But this time exists. And it's okay that I started caring for my body only when turned adulthood. It's okay that I realized I'm non-binary when already started college. How I slowly change everywhere name to my true one. Because I kinda did feel uncomfortable and shamy at first going "yeah I don't use this name anymore, I use ___". Because lots of people from my circle knew me pre transition. Because despite I let my health go so downhill, (it's been 2 years but I still can't raise my iron from 8 (max I had was like 11 for the past two years. Now I also have calcium deficiency last time I checked)), despite I damaged my nerve, despite all the health issues I was born with that I found out not that long time ago, I can accept that. I can eat better, I can go to therapy, go on meds, use mobility aid. Because there is still time…..
