I've seen a lot of people say committing by train is a bad idea. The thing is when I think committing by train I don't think jumping in front of a train. I think laying on tracks. Which as far as I know has a rather high success rate if you can pull it off. I know there's the issue that it could cause guilt for the people on the train for being involved in what happened. But beyond that I'm not sure what the issue is.

Better hanging
Hanging or throwing yourself into the sea with a heavy weight, falling from a great distance or throwing yourself on rails implicates other people.

Problem with laying down on the tracks is if the train driver notices you quick enough (especially if it's on a straight, you'd have to lie down on a bend, but I doubt train tracks that bendy exist) to pull the brakes and slows down the train fast enough for it to not be fatal. Not to mention the longer you spend lying down, the longer you give anyone nearby to notice you and interfere. Really the only way I can see this working is by jumping in front of a train.

I still think jumping off of a 100+ meter cliff onto solid ground would be better. Sure you'd have more time to panic before landing, but at least once you make the jump, you have no choice but to drop. Or if you have the knowledge of how to, hanging or Nitrogen/Carbon Dioxide gas poisoning would also be better options.

Trigger warning:graphic, but it answers the question for me.

The guilt/traumatizing and making other people suicidal is a pretty big issue, so it would be fine if its the main issue.

If it goes wrong its horrible. If you flinch or panic and mess up the attempt at all it can be horrible. When you get hit by a train, you don't just get thrown around and broken bones. You definitely will experience amputations. I read somewhere from an actual train experience that your flesh can start melting too which at least is going to be really painful if it happens but I cannot find that source again anyway online, it was a while ago. Either way, surviving being hit is really bad, its not hard to find stories of amputees who survived.

It's mainly traumatizing anyone on the train and any witnesses plus cleanup crews though. Somebody is going to have to walk around and find all the different body parts/bits and pieces that went flying. It's not a dignified or peaceful method. Hanging is pretty accessible, I think its the better method. Or try SN.

Pure dumbness. If i had access to a high speed train, i would jump in a heartbeat. Fuck "traumatizing" the driver or whatever.

Because it inconveniences them "oh no my train was 5 minutes late even though somebody literally died". Just goes to show how selfish most people are. Train method is one of my favourites because it pisses people off.

I think that in regards to the train method potentially traumatising others, I believe that for many of the people who resort to ctb by train, they have limited other options for methods and they reach the point of being so desperate to escape, and if other people do get upset by witnessing someone ctb this way it's the fault of the society for denying people access to reliable and peaceful methods.
If only there were options for legalised and peaceful methods for people to easily obtain then people wouldn't have to resort to methods like this, but anyway I do envy the courage of those who managed to succeed.

As for other reasons why the train method may not be viewed as favourable, is because it's a brutal method that sounds terrifying and it also sounds like it would be difficult to overcome the SI and finally go through with it unless you were really desperate. This is what puts me off the method as well as the fact that there could be risks involved with this method, like something going wrong leading to the person surviving with damage. The thought of surviving ctb and ending up in a much worse situation is absolutely horrific to me and is what has always scared me and held me back from going through with it.

Idk, I've been pulled off a train track by police twice and tbh the m glad I didn't go that way. The way it messes up the driver that sees you cause he Cant stop, then all the people that have to clean your splattered body all over the tracks etc

Talking about selfish, do you want others to suffer like you do? You have no idea how much of an impact this has on a train driver. Maybe think about what their lives could be like after seeing someone shredded to pieces.

You want to die, don't drag innocent people along .

Why would I care about "innocent" random people? What have they ever done for me? I don't owe them anything, fuck them. Yeah I'm selfish and I don't care.
