People making fun of a suicidal man

I think such a behavior is so disgusting. My heart breaks when people are mocked for suicidal thoughts/suicides. It is so despicable.
I have read similar comments on so many other platforms when talking about suicide.
This is one reason why I am not in another forum.
I also experienced mockery, hate and so on.

How pathetic do you have to be to have to wait around for a travesty to occur in order to make a joke at the expense of others? Sounds like desperation for attention and social media does seem to make some desperate for attention.

The modern world does add further insult to injury by having events like this recorded and viewed by millions. It is hard enough for people to heal, escape trauma and start anew in privacy. To have their worst moments captured, etched permanently into the internet and displayed to the entire world... I won't even try to imagine it.

the right to record anyone and make fun of them all over social media is a nightmare. we are all humans and make mistakes

Weirdly, I disagree. I'll amend my statement by saying that it's actually humanity at its best. Humans are selfish. At base, they have no empathy. They're ignorant because they care more about appearing right than actually being right. I believe the reason for this is that they don't go through as much shit as we do. This community is supportive and wonderful because we all understand the pain we all feel on some level or another. They can never experience that empathy because they live those gilded lives. The crazy part is, humans, set them up for that, too. Humans made it so the little people like us don't fucking matter unless they can use us for political gain or entertainment. We're steppingstones on the path to the rest of their wonderful life, exemplifying the peak of what humanity is. We're the outliers. We're the weirdos who actually care about one another. That truly is abnormal, and a morbid part of me is proud about that.

Fuck. I feel so sorry for this guy. A friend of mine's sister attempted CTB from a VERY great height and survived in a similar fashion. Broke one part of her spine and she's completely fine. Gosh, but I can't imagine surviving a fall in public like this. The feeling of disappointment and embarrassment waking up would be worse than the pain.

I've experienced people like this in a classroom once. I think the teacher was having some suicide awareness talk with us. I would say about 75% of the class said something like "wtf they fuckin stupid"... referring to suicidal people of course. No compassion whatsoever.

This is very sad and heart breaking. The man fell from a building and failed due to a parked car. He was in extreme pain and broke his bones.

This is a harsh reality of life, safe spaces can really only exist inside our own minds and ability to process what others say in a way that we can compartmentalise it and put it somewhere dormant.

People can be cruel, stupid, thoughtless, narcissistic for a variety of reasons unfortunately

If I see or read something about someone attempting suicide my heart breaks into pieces, because I understand the suffering that must have lead that person to such a decision.

People who laugh at suicide are strangers to despair. I don't really blame them. They simply don't get it. It's like asking a deaf person to understand music…

Although I understand where you're coming from, I actually disagree. I think as a human being, when you see another living creature suffering, there should just be some natural level of compassion. People who seem to have none I believe are either bullies, psycho/sociopaths, narcissists or ppl just trying to "fit in". I know not everyone has great empathy, but there really should be some natural level of concern when watching one suffer. Idk maybe I'm just a bit too idealistic

People always make fun of suicidal people. Somebody is probably going to crack a joke about me ctb:ing. So what? Get over it. They are sad, endlessly sad people, beyond anyone's help. Becoming that is a lot worse than dying.

Falling from a great height is surprisingly unlethal. I wish dumb movies and TV shows didn't make ctb look easy.

People end up in hospital or even permanently disabled because of this...
