  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I have a chronic illness. I can't get better. Every day I spend in torture. I go to the doctor and I am gaslit and not helped. I don't have the ability to even drive anymore. I talk about suicide and people are like "your life is worth something!"

THAT IS NOT THE POINT!

Then they make it all about how they'd feel if I was gone. But I feel terrible not being gone every day I'm alive because I am trapped in physical torture. My mother told me "I need a counselor" and I'm like what on earth would a counselor do beyond waste my energy? Can they make it so I'm not physically being tortured every day? If not, what on earth is the point of counseling? There is nothing irrational about my position. I just wish I could tell people "I can't feel better, despite trying very hard for many years. I don't want to be sick every day anymore. I'd like to go peacefully nad have my wishes carried out after I'm gone regarding my property." And not get stupid answers back.

Obviously, I would rather feel better, too, but after 14 years of being sick, it's not happening.
It would actaully give me more peace knowing people would just put my money and possessions where I ask after I'm gone. It's just another burden for me to have to manage in advance.

People say they love you, but they seem to show more love to pets than to close people.

If the situation a person is in only consists of pain and suffering. Talking about it won't fix the problem. If it's real physical suffering it's very loving to let the person himself decide when it's his time to go and not try to only talk down and explain how wrong the person is.

If we were pets, most people would have driven us to the vet and given us N long time ago.

I agree that people can be very selfish. Many non suicidal people live under this delusion that life is always worth living, and it would be different if something happened to them to make them feel suicidal and then they would want to exit peacefully. It is cruel to expect someone to suffer against their wishes. I do wish that we lived in a world where suicide is accepted and is seen as a rational option. Suicide is a human right after all, nobody has any obligations to live in the first place.

I'm so sorry for you. I just can't imagine how you cope being in pain every day. It must be unbearable. My Grandma suffered with diverticulitis and a bunch of other things and she was in pain every day. It was heart breaking.

I agree- of course we miss our loved ones when they pass but to want to hang on to someone who is in agony every day does seem selfish.

It sounds as if yours is a long-term illness, so I'm guessing you have built up a tolerance to pain killers? I wish there was something that could help you. I'm so sorry for your suffering.

That's what a will is for. If you want your final wishes to be carried out, you need a will. You can have done anything you want with any of your money and possessions BY LAW. It beats relying on someone else to make sure your wishes are carried out. You can get a simple will done for a couple hundred dollars. At least where I live in the US you can. I'm getting mine drawn up as we speak.
