I've never met a single truly virtuous person in my life. I don't think it's even possible anymore. We are fundamentally egotistical and self-unaware. In rare cases, people might say they have values, but, in reality, they like the identity that the value gives them. For instance, one might say they value honesty, but they really just like being an honest person. It's about the label. In this sense, being truly virtuous seems fundamentally impossible.
I am actually pretty close to achieving one of my life-long goals of becoming confident and as a result I've been trying to socialize a lot more. What gets in the way is not my social anxiety anymore. It's how absurdly fragile people's egos are, how close-minded and unaware people are. Don't get me wrong. I know I'm rather pathetic, arrogant and fragile myself. But I try to be aware of it. I try to listen and to not project and to not get offended. But people are lame.
Or maybe this is just my ego talking and I'm ironically the one who's projecting. Whatever. Rant over.
