Method Partial suspension hanging - why didnt it work?

Hey! :3 So I tried to kill myself today via partial suspension hanging >w< and I did so using the lace of a hoodie. It's about a meter-long string, quite thin and small. It's the only thing I could get my hands on here in the psych ward. I feel like I followed all the steps. I tied a double knot around a door handle, which is the only point I could have fixed a string around. I lubricated the ligature, I tied a slip knot, stuck my head in, and leaned forward. All I could feel was my jugular was being compressed but not my carotid arteries— I wasn't losing consciousness :( but it felt like my head was about to explode, my hearing was going and I felt like throwing up. I tried like three times before giving up, leaving a really visible red mark across my neck, which the staff then noticed. Now I'm on suicide watch T-T

I'm just wondering cause I have one more string that I smuggled in what can I do next time to make it work???

It seems you only compressed the jugulars and not the carotid arteries. This means not enough pressure was applied. I'm sorry to have to tell you but your options with the lace of a hoodie are greatly reduced if you wanna hang yourself.

It's a very difficult method. This was one of my two methods of choice when I last tried... and I had all sorts of issues... including problems with the rope, which I had done a TON of research on. My attempts were frustrating beyond belief.

I tried the way I saw in the evelyn guide and it worked in giving me the light dizzy fainty not head exploding feeling. But i do have a rope way thicker than a hoodie string so... idk if it works with that.

It seems like this is up for debate a lot. Some say it is others say it isn't. I've watched a lot of partial videos and the most effective way seems to be dropping like marcus did. Some people on here apply like 5lbs of pressure and then say it doesn't work

Like instead of leaning into it slowly you just drop your whole body weight into it at once

So my only option is leaning T-T. But I never thought of dropping. That's good to know— maybe I can try that once I'm out ^-^

But what's the setup like? How high up should the ligature be fixed to and how high up should the drop be? owo? FSH comes to mind— are we talking ligature fixed to the ceiling and kicking a stool away?

Sorry for the barrage of questions (＞人＜;) I always thought PSH just required leaning.

I've spent half of my 2025 in the ward T-T, and by the look of things, there's a solid chance I'm here 'till next year (◞‸◟)

so i tried doing partial on my doorknob a while back. Just to see if it works not to go through with it the whole way. I just put my back against the door and sat down and I got the length of the rope right so it was tight.
It worked got all dizzy fainty and also i couldn't move/really hard to move. It kinda hurt too but not my head/neck it hurt my arm/leg for some reason. Haven't managed to recreate it since but also I haven't tried it very much since then cause it was kinda scary idk.

I still have one more string that I have hidden away… so I got one more attempt left :3 But otherwise, yeah, I'll just have to wait until I'm out of the psych ward— whenever the fuck that will be!! >w<

When I get out of the psych ward though, I'm probably looking at either SN (again T-T) or just letting myself be decapitated by a train ^-^
