I'm trying to work out why partial hanging is considered unreliable, but that's all I have access to. Plus my mental situation is becoming more unbearable by the day.
Is it because it's too difficult to find the 'sweet spot'? or possibility of SI making it too easy to back out?
I've practiced several times with mixed results. As far as I can tell so far, it needs to be done quickly.
How much jerking could I expect once unconscious? I obviously don't want the grip to loosen.
I've also tried sitting in a chair and leaning forward and managed to obtain the 'sweet spot'. However I'm concerned that I may inadvertently somehow sit back up when jerking around. Any (positive) advice would be appreciated.

Wouldn't that also depend on the position of your legs and how far you are off the floor?
If you're off the floor then it would be full suspension unless you're picturing something I'm not

Sorry for the confusion. I'm meaning how far your head would be above the floor plus the angle of your body.

Probably because all you have to do is stand up. It's way too easy for SI to win.
Agree, I've tried a few times and because you physically can just stand up and release the pressure from your neck, it's really hard to fight SI.

Let's say I can manage to beat SI, is there anything I need to consider with the technique itself? I need to have confidence in what I'm doing.

I guess I'm not a great person to ask given that I have failed multiple times 😂 I suppose make sure your anchor point is secure, ligature material strong enough, make sure you're getting enough pressure on your neck to compress and block the blood flow?

I'm sure there's a megathread about it on the forum, the search function is down but you should be able to navigate to it through the resources
Thanks. I've already taken the liberty to read through as many threads as I could find, both before joining SS and after, but I was hoping that there may some additional advice/hints that I need to be aware of. In addition a lot of the threads seem to unfortunately go off topic.
Anyone else willing to jump in here? Anyone with personal experience?

I know what you mean about needing to have confidence. I'm losing confidence the more I read on here.

I'm wanting to know more about partial also. Leaning forward in a chair as you mentioned, to me is not a great idea. I say that only because I worry what will happen after you go unconscious. Not knowing what type of chair, the chair could flip or you could fall in a way that there would be no pressure to your neck. My understanding is that it's best to tie off the ligature above your head so that when you go unconscious, gravity would take over.
Can I ask what type of ligature you using?
I'm guessing you already know what knot to use

Thanks for that. For starters the chair (solid wooden dining chair) is backed up to the door, so it can't flip. The idea is that I lean forward (overbalance) from the chair so that the ligature tightens. The reason for the chair is that I haven't had any luck finding the 'sweet spot' otherwise and I thought what else can I do. I'm guessing it's to do with maintaining the distance from the door and the subsequent angle of the ligature.(????). Also I'm not compressing my trachea as much. I'm using a soft fabric dressing gown cord so that it isn't as harsh on the neck. I've knotted a small loop at one end of which I then thread the other end through to make the neck loop. That end is then fed over the door and held by a couple of large knots with the door closed. The neck loop then goes around the neck so that the loop knot is directly at the back of the neck. .... so essentially, a type of slipknot. Hope this makes sense. It's still experimental. I find it hard to describe in words. I still am unsure as what effect unconscious jerking/movement will create overall ....... being cautious about possible permanent brain damage should I survive.
Anyone else willing to jump in?

Have you tried kneeling down then leaning forward? I'm not sure if it's effective for me, but I've heard it's easier to lose consciousness that way.

Thanks, but my current ligature is not long enough for me to be able to do this and I don't have anything suitable to add to lengthen it. I'll keep it in mind as a possibility though.

It's important that your rope and ligature doesn't stretch,
if it does it will fuck up your position
knots that dont untie
strong anchor

then the worst thing that can happen
is that tge convulsions makes your body stand up, or just loosens the pressure. Someone that used position 4 reported that (je woke up with his body ""moving"", thats what he said if I remember)
Hanging yourself with your ass and legs in the air should prevent that. Only feet should touch the floor.

The convulsions will last one minute, maybe two

I would just go for full suspension personally

Ah, the person I was hoping would jump in. Thanks for that. I have read 99% of your info. Maybe I should reread it. I'm well aware of your previous predicament. Unfortunately I currently don't have anywhere where I perform full ....... Gotta go visitors!

I tried it, a couple of days ago. I attached a scarf around a door knob and tied it around my neck, then leaned forward. All I got was huge pain, some dizziness. I didn't feel like passing out any time and started panicking so I stopped the attempt. I think full suspension is much more reliable

I've just searched through postings on 'Partial Hanging'. Hmm. Definitely not looking promising. Lots of postings just like mine. Lots of attempts ....... not a lot of success plus the majority of those posters still appear to be with us. The risk of the possibility of brain damage is now really making me think twice. It all sounds good in theory, but ..........

Did you tie a slip knot?

No, just an ordinary knot. Maybe that was why it didn't work
