Many in this world don't have that. Maybe this person will come out on the other side and have a nice, happy life. That's what we all should hope for them, regardless of where we are in ours.

Depends on how you assume it played out. The way i assumed it to play out would have been voluntary technically. Like this - parents find SN - Parents make a big deal of it and say "we're taking you to psych hospital" - OP reluctantly agrees to go.

Sure they may not want to but from an official stance it's voluntary. If they called a doctor and they deemed it necessary to enforce a visit then it would be involuntary but as long as you admit yourself that's voluntary. Even if it's under pressure from family members.

I think they mean in the eyes of the law and the hospital. I'd agree that it's not really a decision they're giving their consent to, but in the eyes of the law it may count as voluntary

Honestly, I know nothing about what is involved in committing someone. To your point, I doubt there are proclamations to attest to by signature regarding whether one is freely entering the facility without duress and all that, like one would have to sign upon making a confession to a crime or pleading guilty in a court of law, but, again, I have no idea. I'm not sure a hospital would even care, as it's all $ to them, either way. I'm not even sure if the OP is a minor. That probably makes a difference if the parents are still legally responsible for their welfare.

If you commit yourself you can leave when you like. If you dont you're there for the duration. Therefore it's in the interest of someone visiting such a place to appear compliant. I had simply suggested they might be on their way to a voluntary stay. This was the important technicality I was eluding to. However it ultimately makes no difference to us so arguing semantics isn't really necessary.

That sounds rough OP. I live with parents who know I'm suicidal too and I'm pretty sure the same thing is going to happen to me at some point. I hope you're at least in a country where psych hospitals help somewhat and don't actually make things worse with their tReATmEnT. Good luck!

I'm a 23 year old grown ass woman who wears sanrio clothing and bows in my hair, does that make me less of an adult? We need more people in this world who are unashamed to like cute things, bugger off.

OP, I am sorry that you have to go through this ordeal, being forced to go to a ward isn't a fun experience and I hope that you'll come out with minimal harm being done. Your parents likely want to help, yet don't understand how damaging those environments can be for suicidal people.
