What's a one thing that could save humanity?
Do you think humanity can be saved?
Each day, each human interaction makes me think we lost. I don't want to belong to the human race, I'm ashamed

I don't think humanity can be saved. It is going to be a very low chance of it. It would take a very big change for that to happen but some of the most powerful people wouldn't let that happen. There are always going to be immoral people around and people who suffer greatly no matter what we do.

Tho if we saying a potential save option to be to end humanity then maybe thats possible cus of destructive we can be.

Humans aren't naturally greedy, humans are naturally generous and kind, we just live under systems that force us to compete with each other for survival. There have been several times in the last 150 years where we were close to achieving something better, and every time that possible future was brutally crushed by the wealthy and powerful of the past.

Nothing can nor should be changed. Humanity is not a whole. Each individual is extremely different. If we wanted everyone to behave the same and act in a uniform way let's say we make every one to do no harm then we achieve world peace but we lose free will. It would be pointless.

Yes, but then we would exactly be like machines. We would have no personality and we would be utterly colorless. You see where I'm going with this? Such a world would be bleak and dystopian.

What do you mean by 'humanity'? Kindness/ goodness? We pick out only the good qualities and equate them with the standard of how humans should behave. We have so many other aspects to us though.

I find it kind of funny we assume 'humanity' or even nature itself is inherently good or moral. Nature simply prompts us to try and survive.

I think I understand though- a world where no one suffers- right? I only think we can reduce suffering to be honest. Let's take something that's a positive. Someone training to be a doctor or a sports person, an inventor, an artist. Yet- the competition they'll participate to achieve their goal will make other people feel as if they've failed- if they don't achieve those goals. So- do we dissuade people from fulfilling their talent and potential? Do we get rid of competition? Do we make less of a big deal of it if they do succeed? Maybe we pay everyone the same. That seems more fair. But then, where's the incentive to do very dangerous or demanding jobs? How about the people who don't want to work or, can't? Should they still be paid the same? Why should anyone want to work then?

I just think we're way too complex for everyone to be happy and not suffer. Plus, there are things we simply can't change- like death. How can we truly be happy about loved ones dieing? We just learn to cope with all the shit.

I suppose things could get better but, being a pessimist and a cynic, I don't see it happening. Rather, I just think we'll sway back and forth between tolerance and intolerance. You do one thing to please one group of people, you piss another lot off. I can't envisage utopia for all without labotomizing the whole race.

We don't fully understand the biological basis for greed, at least to my knowledge. Even if there are "greed" genes it wouldn't be that out there to assume that there would likely be multiple genes controlling for greed. It could be that there are hundreds of genes involved in greed. That's not even getting into the fact that a single gene can also control for multiple traits. Let's say that there is a single "greed" gene. Who is to say that said gene doesn't also control for multiple other traits, including some very important ones?

I would also like to add that you are completely disregarding any environmental factors here. Wealth and resource hoarding likely didn't start to become more prominent until during the Neolithic period. At least from what I know (I am not an anthropologist and have no background in the field, so I might be wrong), resource hoarding isn't as common in many hunter-gatherer societies. This points to the fact that greed is something that likely has strong environmental factors at play and that the greed we see today is in some part the result of things, like the structure of our modern societies. Capitalism, for example, could be argued to generally promote things like wealth hoarding and greediness. It's a system built on exploitation and thus involves some degree of dehumanization (particularly towards over-exploited groups, such as the poor) in order to function. Capitalists hold claim on most of the profits generated by the labour of others and it is the urge to maximize the value of their property that leads to the promotion of "efficiency" that is commonly paraded around. It's a system centred around trying to increase one's own profits, often at the expense of others, so, of course, you could argue that growing up in a society structured in such a way will likely play a role in increasing greedy behaviour. A lot of this also applies to hatred as well.

Along with that, most traits are neutral. We evolved to be capable of greed and hatred because in some it likely aided our ancestors in their ability to survive. Demonizing it and editing out our ability to engage in those things isn't going to fix humanity. The issue isn't those traits themselves, but rather it is the fact that they are being promoted and pushed to an extreme, at least in part, due to how our society is structured. We need to look towards fixing things on a more systematic level rather than focusing on trying to edit our genetics. We need to completely restructure how our society operates and how we live if we want to create a more egalitarian society.

As for humanity being the human race, we are our own worst enemy, destroying our own habitat. As for humanity being a quality, referring to humans who are "kind, thoughtful, and sympathetic towards others"? That sounds like a description of SaSu members to me. Can humanity be saved? Maybe we should take over the world.

Honestly no, humanity is a disgusting place and it is too far gone. The only way to save the planet would be mass annihilation of all humans so that animals can live peacefully

If everyone would be totally equal evolution would stop and mankind would be erased if our environment would become a little more hostile.
Your vision of a new mankind seems to me rather boring and I am happy with the world as it is.
