  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

One is sixty deaths in the u.s. are by ctb, this in a country with so many resources- but, if you are unlucky, also a lot of meanness. There are also very few resources for those who are abused- compared to the need- especially for mental and emotional abuse, which is some ways the worst kind, because a person has no physical proof of what happened. I actually had someone, a psychologist, in my twenties to talk to, and all she did was talk about herself and her family- more abuse since she was supposed to help me but never even tried to- out of loneliness I kept going back, I wish I had asserted myself and switched to someone who would at least try to help.

It's sad that no one cares about people until they're dead. Imagine if people cared about living, suicidal people as much as they did about those who died by suicide. Imagine if, instead of spending all their energy mourning someone who ctb'd due to terrible situations in their lives, they could use that energy to help fix those situations while those people were still alive. I agree that there are not enough resources for people who were abused. Millions of dollars are spent on anti-suicide measures, like constructing barriers on bridges and posting signs with the suicide hotline written on them, but those are just quick fixes, like putting a band-aid over a gaping wound. It might stop people from ctb'ing at that very moment, but unless the problems in their lives are fixed, they'll probably end up ctb'ing later using some other method. Rather than spending so much time and using so many resources to inhumanely trap people in painful, unbearable lives, people should put more effort into making life better and less painful so people don't feel the need to ctb in the first place. But no one does that- they just put no effort into making our lives a little more bearable, and instead create this painful situation that we're not even allowed to leave. As long as the world remains this way, we have the right to leave lives that are painful and that no one tries to fix. People are focusing all their energy on the wrong side of the problem

Wow that really puts it into perspective. I've looked at the rates before but never really understood the magnitude and didn't think to divide by the total death rate. 13.5 suicides per 100000 people out of 1027 deaths per 100000 people. The rate itself sure doesn't sound all that big, just another way they use to downplay the numbers.

I wonder if many people here are just too kind hearted and have sacrificed or lost too much of themselves without getting anything back.

Unless it's family I don't believe they really care about the dead either, all just a ritual so they don't feel responsible. Anti-suicidal measures are to protect normal people and to keep them in their happy bubbles so they don't realise how unhappy many other people are.

The US actually doesn't have the resources like people assume. It's been gradually pushed to go bankrupt and u can't sustain all the welfare forever. There are now too many pple dependent on the back of others through income resdistribution. I attached a tweet about why the US is collapsing. It is because too many pple are in cushy jobs in a fake economy and the money does not go to people who actually do the undesirable and dangerous jobs. It goes to people who do the least actual productive labor.

I envy those who have left as they cannot suffer anymore. I think that suicide is the best way to die as after all we will all die eventually so I see it as preferable to die at a time of my own choosing rather than it being out of my control. To me it's understandable why so many people decide to ctb in a world like this. I believe that many more would decide to ctb if suicide methods were more easily accessible. Life does just seem to be endless suffering and problems with so many people trapped in low quality lives.

True in some cases. I think I do have some humans that seem to care, but I don't think they can help me. I'm fine with dying. I understand mourning, but I would also wish in my case that they would realise I'm free from pain and not have to feel guilt. Not that I've control over that heh.
The trapping thing does suck :/
