I have recently been admitted to a mental hospital, and therefore I cannot own or possess a firearm for 5 years since my admission. Also I am under the legal age to purchase a firearm in California anyways and I do not wish to wait to turn 21. I know that with a hunting license you can own a shotgun or rifle, but I think my firearm ban would still apply. I would like to CTB on my own terms, but if I am desperate enough, I think I will either try to join the military or police force, or go to a shooting range. Does anyone have any advice on how to obtain one so I do not have to do any of those other ways? Legality is not a concern for me, but I do not even know where to start in that regard.

And you're in luck. Here, it's enough for someone to see you talking to shady people, for you to have taken some painkillers even just once and the doctor certifies it, and you can forget about any weapons. To a person who had a gun for 5 years that was revoked because of a Facebook post that suggested he didn't enjoy life very much.
Owning a gun is the greatest blessing a suicidal person can have. They won't let you keep it easily.

You either need to make friends with some shady characters in the hood and buy a gun off of them, or you need to find a private sale where they don't care about background/ID checks.

Well they used to talk a lot about ghost guns, but I'm pretty sure those avenues are closed these days. Also black powder guns are supposedly the easiest to legally aquire. Idk. I can't own one period due to drug possession conviction among other errors in my life.

3D printers have the capability to produce one shot pistols. The hard part is the shell. Complicated chemicals etc. Also I'd image 99.9 percent of printable weapons are federal projects. Most torrent sites had banned them the last time I was around the torrent scene. Although I think the pirate Bay, or one of them had allowed just one of them as a protest. I'm sure it was a federal project also.

In Europe, this is science fiction, and in other parts of the world too. I think certain things only exist in the United States, but the situation is changing there too.

In Europe, in general, each country imposes more obstacles than the other, almost competing to prevent you from ever getting a gun. The only exception is Switzerland, which provides a gun to those who serve in the military, and once they're done, they can decide to buy one. However, even then, the person must be extremely trustworthy and is subject to strict controls.

3D guns are prone to breakage and deformation and are risky for those who use them. You could fill your body with shrapnel without killing yourself. If it's reinforced with metal parts, you're practically traceable. I would never consider something like that. Plus, you're playing with small calibers and you only have a limited number of shots before the weapon causes problems.

I'm using a black powder weapon. In most states, they can be shipped straight to your front door without any permit or background check; they're "antique replicas" and not legally guns. However, if you saw me running at you with my "antique," you'd scream "he's got a gun!" They're guns.

I got almost everything I need, completely legally, online a while ago, and I could easily get the rest online or in person, and I'm in a state with pretty strict gun laws! They're a little bit of a hassle but certainly easier than aquiring a "real" gun.

I don't know why people rag on black powder weapons. At least in the U.S., they're a really good alternative to modern smokeless powder guns.

This is what I'm using too. I'm in the shithole that is illinois and still managed to get everything shipped to my door with minimal issue, despite having been in a mental institute within the past 5 years.

Yeah, getting it legally would be really difficult and while I don't endorse illegal methods (due to the legal risk, but also safety risk too - it's possible to get scammed, robbed, mugged, further harmed, leaving you in worse shape), I would aim towards getting the record sealed, expunged or so, if possible. Also, becoming of legal age, or if you are able to move to a state with more lax gun laws perhaps.

I would just find a different method. Sorry :(

Owning a gun while being prohibited from gun ownership is a SERIOUS crime and you'll probably go to jail where your life would be so much worse and CTB attempts would be much less successful.
