I know that nobody cares about me and that my death would be no significance but it's still so hard to die

People would care about mine, but they don't know what a monster I am or they would celebrate it.

The fact some people will definitely care/be affected makes it much harder for me to finally do it. I have been waiting for years, and even now when I'm mentally so close I have to force myself to stay in order to avoid making problems for others. I wish no one cared so I could just leave any time I want.

I guess that it could never really matter if people were to care or not after we are gone as we simply won't be existing at that point, whatever happens in this cruel world will not be our concern. But I believe that in many cases people will be affected by losing someone, but eventually those people will die and we very likely won't even exist in the memories of those who continue to endure existence. It's just the way that life is, we only exist just to die and inevitably be forgotten about. Our life and death doesn't matter really, it's true that our existences are so incredibly insignificant.

I'm positive humans over-inflate their existence. Thereby, over-inflating the effect of their death.

We know who'll care and who won't, but unless we've seen how they respond to sudden deaths - we have no idea how they will react to our death.

Yet many people speak as if their death would be the worst thing that ever happened to mom/dad/brother/sister/friend...

I don't see how they could know that or why they would assume that.

I think most people project how they would feel (in the event of a loved one's suicide) onto their family and friends.

I'm sure some families would fall apart. Some parents won't be able to go on. But most will continue moving through life (with no purpose) just as they do when we're alive.

True. People don't or can't sympathise. Got to look out for yourself, always. People don't care about your problems. Then they'll cry after you die and call that caring.

It's not so much 'people' don't care. it is a simple matter of time moves on for everything and everyone. Most people are forgotten sooner rather than later. Even some of the greatest, most poweful rulers of the past are forgotten today, their names completely unknown. Each and every individual life is totally insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

We all believe we as individual are the most impotant person in the world. Of course, for ourselves, we are the most important person. For everyone else, we are "just" another person. And soon one belonging to history; in two or three generations a mere footnoot, if at all; beyond that completely forgotten. It's no different in the animal world. As much as the homo sapiens is also an animal, after all.

As Marcus Aurelius used to say back in the day (little could he have known that he is, indeed, one who we do remember for his wisdom to this day, coincidentally):

"The time is at hand when you will have forgotten everything; and the time is at hand when all will have forgotten you. Always reflect that soon you will be no one, and nowhere."

This sort of sweeping generalisation is worth more or less nothing, and the thought-terminating "believe me" statement only makes it worse. It's about as empty as the platitudes about "every life being precious and worth living" that ignore every person's context and specific circumstances.

I always think of Walter White in Breaking Bad when their discussing the recent plane crash and he starts naming off other crashes that people have forgotten about or kids were to young to remember. He says," People move on!!" I know if I was to die tomorrow my family would be extremely upset that I'm gone. Sadly my sister would miss me the most but over time? She would slowly forget how I talked or what my voice sounded like. You remembered through pictures and memories but everything else just starts to fade away as their lives move on the next few years and decades....Damn I'm bringing myself down talking about this but yes that's just fucking life and the way mind's work. Pushing out the old for all the new things coming in every second of everyday.

Old experiences are replaced with new ones. Old people replaced with new people. Constant renewal. Constant change. Nothing stays static. Everything moves on.

As for the people that are upset today (like your sister would be), they are the dead of tomorrow. As harsh as that sounds, that's the reality. I find this really comforting, though.

Yeah it's a harsh reality. I don't mind dying but I really don't want to think of my irish twin sister dead!!! She's soooo much stronger than I am and has a lot to live for!! Sorry...I understand what your saying and love the constant renewal bit...I just...I don't need that in my head rn...Fuck I'm sounding like a baby!!! Grrrrrr 😋

What even are people?? You can't even know surely if other 'people' are conscious like yourself or not. It seems funny to me how anchored in what we call reality some people are. I don't know anything, I'm so lost.
