I truly cannot understand why assisted suicide is not readily available for those suffering in this lifetime. We don't have the choice to come into existence, but we should be granted the option to leave it.
I'm not scared of dying, but I am scared of failing. I wish there were a reliable way to leave without the fear of failure. Picking your method will always be risky when it has been made so difficult for those of us suffering to peacefully exit on our own terms.
I don't want to leave behind pain for others in my life or increase my own suffering by experiencing a failed attempt. It feels cruel that we're all subjected to life and don't have the freedom for death.

The method issue is tough. Short of encasing yourself in cement or something (then again if you're discovered) it seems that some reason that it might not work can always come up in our minds.

As for leaving behind pain with others, it too is really unavoidable if you have those people as part of your life. That said in another thread today I thought the ideal way to go would be doing something helpful to someone else that resulted in my death, win-win. People would still be upset but much different than if they found you hanging. All comes down to the stigma. RainAndSadness had a thread today about the laws in one country today and mentioned how encouraging the public conversation to go in the direction of freedom has to keep being worked on.

I understand that leaving behind pain for others is unavoidable, but if an attempt goes wrong and you end up horribly damaged and in a position where you must rely on those you would have left if you had succeeded— it's a different kind of pain. It seems worse than the pain that would be caused by a successful attempt. I agree that sacrificing your life in a helpful way would be ideal, but it's sad that it has to be limited to that before getting to decide to leave this world peacefully without the stigma you describe. I hope that freedom will overcome these limitations at some point in the future.

It very much disgusts me how there is no painless, straightforward and risk free way to exit this existence. It's extreme cruelty to be against the right to die and to see it as being beneficial to force people to stay here against their wishes, the common attitudes towards suicide really are so incredibly wrong.

I just think that it would make this world a much less hellish place if people had the option to peacefully exit when the time is right, as after all we exist in a world where there is unlimited potential for suffering. We are all going to die anyway so we should be able to control when we die without risking a failed attempt, if I had the option of N it would solve everything for me and prevent all future torment, there is nothing more ideal than that.
