• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Hi everyone, first post here. Why don't pro-lifers understand that it's possible to just not want to live? That some of us just aren't suited to being alive. Like unless your religious theres no reason to think that everything is going to be okay, that theres some kind of cosmic justice or whatever. Sometimes existance just sucks because shit goes wrong for no reason.

Sometimes people also don't understand that even if your life is going well, some may still want to die.
People just can't believe what they can't comprehend.

The reason many pro-lifers don't get it is because they're often operating from a framework that insists life has inherent value, regardless of lived experience. Whether it's rooted in religion, cultural optimism, or just social programming, they believe suffering has a purpose, that things will get better, or that we owe it to the people around us to keep going. For them, life is the default, and anything else is framed as pathology.

But as you said—sometimes existence just doesn't work. Some people don't find joy in the things others do. Some are in constant physical or mental pain. Some are simply done. And not because of a crisis, or because they need help, or because they're not "trying hard enough"—but because life, for them, has never been a fit. And that's not easy to say in a world obsessed with recovery arcs.

There's this illusion that if you just hold on long enough, it'll all make sense. That there's a lesson, or justice, or balance waiting for you. But the truth is—sometimes, things just hurt. And they don't get better. And they don't mean anything. And insisting that every suicidal person is just "missing the light" is both infantilising and cruel.

Some people heal. Some people don't. Some people want to stay. Some people don't. Both are valid.

I really understand as all I wish for is to not exist, non-existence is all I see as desirable and is all I hope for in this existence where there is all this suffering all for the sake of it with no limit as to how much agony one can feel, non-existence really is all that's positive for me, I just want to never suffer ever again. I'd just never wish for this futile, torturous existence that I personally always saw as a mistake and it's just so cruel to me how we exist in this reality where suffering is seen as to force and prolong no matter what as all I hope for is to peacefully cease existing, I just wish for peace from the suffering of this cruel existence that I just never would had wished for, I see it as the most terrible tragedy how this existence of suffering all for the sake of it was even imposed at all.

Welcome.

Some people value perseverance, grit, resilience... and see "quitting" or "giving up" as an extreme negative. We're suppose to see it through to the end. Suppose to, but not everyone can do what others want them to do.
After telling my therapist about my feelings, stressor, past and revealing I often think of death she ask in (I suppose genuine) confusion why so many people think death is the anwser to their problems. I didn't anwser her because if she can't think of any reasons what's the point of explaining. Some people don't get it. But I do.

I was having this conversation with someone the other day and we started talking about suicide prevention and I said that I believe there are times when there is nothing that will "prevent" someone from taking their life. The person looked at me like I had three heads! I went on to explain that I do believe there are things out there to help people and not everyone needs to die from suicide; however, I believe in the freedom of choice and that some people do not deserve to suffer in life and the only way to prevent this is to die. I do believe we all have freedoms of choices in our life-and I believe the choice to live or not once we've tried all other options and resources is one of the biggest choices adults have!
I think some people just think the default of we were born and therefore must do everything to keep living, and to go against this "norm" there must be something wrong with us and we have to be fixed or our minds changed. But when you actually want to talk about feeling differently or looking for the help you need, you're judges again for being weak or there's something wrong, and there's so little help that you just give up.
People aren't "pro-life" they're "pro-convenient to their needs".

Sorry that was me ranting! 😝

Sometimes i wonder if pro-lifers are stockholm syndromed into believing their lives are worth living. Perhaps they're so unconciously afraid of death they can't accept that others have the right to die because then they would have to considering ending it themselves.
