  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Would nitrous oxide be okay instead of pure nitrogen for a suicide bag kit?

I wouldn't think so, but I'm not totally sure.

Definitely NOT recommended for a peaceful exit. Nitrous oxide's chemical makeup includes oxygen, meaning you will naturally exhale carbon dioxide, the substance guaranteed to cause the involuntary panic (and potential thrashing) associated with asphyxiation. You need either PURE nitrogen, argon, or helium--usually only available for purchase in the U.S. at welding supply stores.

So it's not 'laughing gas' like you'd get at the dentist or in whipits?

The better question is how are you going to make an exit bag from those tiny whipppets?

One thing is for sure, nitrous oxide cannot create carbon dioxide in the process of breathing, so it cannot cause panic. Only Inhalation of oxygen can produce carbon dioxide.

...that's not how it works. That's not how any of this works

This is what I found on Nitrous Oxide:
Quote:

Nitrous Oxide readily displaces air, causing asphyxiation. A person who is rendered unconscious by nitrous oxide is likely to stop breathing within a few seconds as a result of a depressed central nervous system–brain, brain stem, and spinal cord. Depression is caused by a combination of the effects of nitrous oxide and the lowered oxygen content that occurs as pure nitrous oxide displaces oxygen from the lungs with each succeeding inhalation of the gas; i.e., the person is asphyxiated.

Tragedy can occur very quickly. Long-term exposure (several minutes) is not necessary before death occurs. Sudden, prolonged exposure to high levels of nitrous oxide, or a series of inhalations (without breathing clean air between inhalations) can result in death. The length of this action can be measured in seconds. Since the narcotic effect of nitrous oxide is very brief (several seconds) abusers tend to follow this repetitive action pattern.

If a person remains conscious and stops breathing the nitrous oxide, recovery (full consciousness and alertness) can occur within minutes. A person who loses consciousness, however, and continues to inhale a pure gas is most likely to die. Death usually occurs when abusers, in their attempt to achieve a higher state of euphoria, breathe pure nitrous oxide in a confined space — in a small room, inside an automobile or other vehicle cab, or by placing their head inside a plastic bag.

If death does not occur, the person who suffers from these symptoms may recover from all of them. The debilitating process is reversible, although some persons have experienced permanent loss of balance.

You won't exhale co2 because you cannot use Nitrous for breathing. You breath oxygen and your cells can only use oxygen to burn glucose and create CO2 as product. The oxygen is O2 It is molecule made of 2 oxygen atoms. Nitrous oxide does have nitrogen and oxygen molecule which makes it different than 02, thus your cells cannot use oxygen from nitrous. Nitrous is for inert for breathing processes, put It is highly psychoactive, so If you want to have fun and trippy last ride you can go for it.

Try breathing water some time.... It's H2O after all!
Not even fish can breathe that. They breathe O2 that's *dissolved* in water. A chemical bond, like the one in H2O or N2O, is very difficult to break, which is why processes like digestion tend to take hours.

That's also why under general anaesthesia, the gas mix used is 80% N2O, 20% O2. It resembles the gas mix in air (80% N2, 20% O2) but replaces the inert N2 with the psychoactive N2O. The 20% O2 is required so you don't suffocate.

This is also why so many people who just want to get high on N2O and decide to buy a tank of it and use a mask end up dying of asphyxiation - They most likely didn't buy an oxygen tank and a gas mixer with it. Combine with that the fact that you pass out within a minute and can't take your mask off anymore... Instant game-over.

Cylinders are hard to source and heavily regulated. I'm wondering if a similar effect could be achieved with a really large exit bag and like 50 cream chargers. My guess would be yes. It probably even works with only 10. Hypercapnic reflex also won't trigger while you're passed out from general anaesthesia... Really wondering why this method isn't more popular.
