There was a YouTube video I saw a while back, said nitrogen was the most painless way to go. Was an old Stephen fry video. Since then, the inventor of a nitrogen pod was planning on blue prints to be made available to build your own exit pod.

Has anyone looked into this? N is peaceful, but nitrogen seems to instantly knock you out without struggle, vs say carbon dioxide which we naturally feel suffocation.

The show used farm animals with nitrogen and carbon dioxide in an eating chamber.

The animals would instantly pass out from nitrogen, and when it was stopped, the animals woke up and just kept eating. Compared to C dioxide, they would pull their heads out.

It prob takes alot of money but other than self poisoning, this seemed to be the most painless exit.

Any thoughts? Can we pool our money to build some of these?

"blue prints to be made available to build your own exit pod." It's a gimmick. First to print that fancy looking pod (Sarco) would be very expensive, and then we have all the other parts, electronics, cryogenic valves, adapters and pipes.

An asphyxiation chamber is basically an enclosure that could be made of something like extruded aluminium, some plexiglass and sealer, and with a "false bottom" where LN2 can flow. It's the rest of the things that make it a little bit more complicated.

I like Sarco's ability to attract public attention to euthanasia. It's more of an art piece. There are many known peaceful methods. Nitrogen and inert gases are top of the list. But the barrier is legal rather than technological. It is not 100% reliable when the one who carries out the procedure is also the one dying. The purity of gas is also in question. If sarco is allowed to go public (no legal barrier), there will probably be many cheaper and simpler alternatives. For example, allowing an assistant to monitor the process would make many existing methods reliable, painless and cheap.

That's how CTB happens in all cases, even in assisted suicide clinics, the one who carries out the procedure is also the one dying.

Nope, the will have the same reliability.

I don't know if you get it, they can't intervene/touch you/help you while you are CTBing, that's absolutely illegal even in the most permissive country (Switzerland) and all the process is recorded and reviewed by the Police.
The purity of gas is also in question.
That's very easy to test.

Btw I don't agree with the typical "tHeRE ArE nO 100% mEThOdS", a proper inert gas setup is 100% for sure. Once you faint in the 0% oxygen environment it's over, you can't come back from there, that's why even tho the method has been used for decades by probably hundreds of thousands of people (or even more) I haven't seen a single medical report of somebody surviving (barring out the ones who were rescued by another person fast obviously).

Having some moral support and professional "equipment" like the Sarco (as compared to the EM equipment) makes it feel safer for the one who carries out the procedure. This makes it less prone to handling errors and, thus, more reliable.

But, yes, technically, it has the same reliability.
