I've been thinking about this possibility. I would like to simplify it using this device. Could it work?

Yes, this works. Rectal administration bypasses first-pass metabolism.

- Faster onset of action
- Higher bioavailability
- No bitter taste.

Thiopental, a pentobarbital derivative, has been used rectally for procedural sedation in children, but there are some problems.

1- Maintaining the drug in the rectum during deep coma. An anal plug is needed.

2- Pentobarbital concentration should not exceed 10%. This causes absorption problems. Such a highly alkaline fluid will damage the rectal wall. The vessels that allow absorption will be blocked. Thiopental has been used at 5% and 10% concentrations in rectal applications.

There are advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I would use it orally.

Sorry, i could be wrong but i think only the IV route bypasses the metabolism done by the liver.
I agree though, i woud choose the oral route, it's very effective. But maybe OP has its own reasons why it's going this route.

I'm afraid of vomiting due to my emetophobia, or being unable of drinking it because of its bitterness.

My N is Dolethal (200 mg/ml).

At least the good news is that it's only 100ml i suppose. I'm in no way saying that rectal route won't work, it just seems a bit complicated for me: you'd need to keep the liquid inside long enough to get to the intestine and be absorbed and i really don't know how long that wil take.
Have you tried exposing yourself to bitter/chemicaly tasting substances, maybe it will help?

I think in this case it's more a reflex caused by the taste rather than the body reaction to the substance.

Yes, that's why I mentioned the device linked in my first post. Maybe it helps to keep it inside, it's like a more sophisticated catheter.

No, I haven't tried to expose myself to chemical flavours, how can I do?

For example, i tried taking a benzodiazepine or a tablet of phenobarbtal "dissolved" in some small amount of water...things like this.
Also, i recommend reading through old threads about N, where people have had these issues with the taste, some of them might have come up with some solutions.

Oh, cool, I've taken several sublingual doses of benzodiacepines, I'm familiar with that taste, the problem for me is the liquid format. I know about taking chocolate or whisky after N, but the moment of putting it inside my mouth and deglute... 😖

I'm not trying to torture you :hihi:, but i think a sublingual benzodiazepine would not be the same as placing an aspirin tablet on your tongue and wait for it to dissolve, if you think a 500mg tablet would be too much, maybe start practicing with a smaller dosage like those intended for circulation which are 75-100mg; as i understand the taste buds are mainly on the uper surface of the tongue and also, the bitter taste seems to be felt mainly in the back of the tongue and throat. Here's a post from @Mud. in a thread about the taste of N. Also, you might find this thread useful: N TASTE GUIDE [ DRAFT ].
