i've been told this will fail so this isn't my final method but i wanted to get an idea of where to find the exact area of compression on my neck, rehearse it to see how it feels etc.
in my closet overhead is a very thin metal bar, it seems sturdy but looks like it can easily snap. i don't have a rope so i used a pretty thick belt to practice on. i wrapped it around the metal and put my head through it, but due to my short stature (below 5'3) i was kind of at the perfect height to just. stand there awkwardly, so i couldn't kneel down or anything
i also tested my doorknob and got a better feeling but i am not risking it because it could be bad if it somehow slips or falls off my doorknob whilst im unconscious

tldr do i have to be kneeling/sitting in order for partial to work? is standing like a no-go

Have you looked at the hanging megathread? I believe it talks about partial as well as full suspension.

You are aiming for your carotid arteries on either side of your neck. The night-night method thread discusses this

Also, a lot of people struggle with partial, but it is not impossible. I would advise against standing as your body may find a way to support itself while unconscious and end up saving you. Sitting/kneeling leads to a much higher chance of success. Could you get ahold of a longer rope that would allow you to be closer to the floor?

yeah i figured standing would attribute to more control = escaping the situation easier. i read through the threads already but i feel like it's important for me to ask in specifics because i'd be more afraid of messing it up than anything. perhaps investing in a proper, longer rope really is the solution

I have a mooring rope that I think someone linked to in one of the hanging threads. I can tie it to a ceiling rafter and still kneel all the way on the floor. It's something like, 15ft/4.5m long which actually gives me lots of extra.
