  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

If I CTB and write a goodbye post please support me by saying goodbye and wishing me a peaceful journey.

But please don't say things like:

I'll see you on the otherside or any other reference to an afterlife. I don't believe or want there to be an afterlife and comments suggesting there is will increase my SI.

Please don't tell me I can call for help if I have doubt. Again, this might increase my SI and if I've taken SN, I could end up in a much worse state than I am now as I'm already very seriously chronically ill.

I just want to be reassured I have people with me that understand why I'm CTB and support me with this decision because its what I want.

I will write this again if I do write a goodbye post

Thank you ❤️ xxx

Yeah, all fair enough. Think it is a good idea to write it again though- if you do make a goodbye post- like you mentioned.

People likely only write stuff about the afterlife because it is reassuring to them. I guess the- you can still change your mind likely doesn't mean they think people should necessarily but that if the OP is having doubts- they shouldn't feel obliged or pressured to go through with it and that they will be welcomed back if the attempt fails. I doubt any of it is done meliciously but I'm sure people would respect your wishes (hopefully) if you expressed them.

The other one that irks me is- Are you sure this is what you want? Things might improve... type thing. While it's kind of fair if the person is reaching out in a regular thread, on a goodbye thread, it seems a bit out of place. Oh and also- a stream of questions about the method they are using. Some people try to document what's happening to them- which I think is tremendously generous and I guess it does leave them open to queries but again it does seem a bit out of place and kind of voyeuristic to see- 'What regiment are you doing? What was your source? What's happening now?' Type of thing when someone is literally dying- especially if they haven't invited all those questions.

Still, that all said, we're all human- sure I've overstepped the mark and upset people at times. My apologies if I have. I might have just then to be fair!

Think all we can do is express our wishes and hope they are respected. If not, other people are usually quite quick to bring any inappropriate posters up to speed. Still, I completely get and respect what you are saying.

This is all perfectly understandable and makes sense. I personally could never believe in any afterlife and the thought of one is not comforting at all. I've also never really understood why people on here would say 'you can call for help', as I'm pretty sure that is what someone would automatically do if they regretted their attempt, others don't need to say it, and if someone is certain and confident about ctb they don't need to read things that could make them feel worse.

But I think that after all, it's impossible really to control what people write, it's the public internet and not everyone is always respectful, it's unfortunately the way that people are. But if you do make a thread you could make it clear that you don't want to read those things. I would personally see it as best to die alone, but that's just me.
