I had similar experience as yours, and the sad thing is that the traumatic feelings of that event wont go away anytime soon.

I always wonder how those acts of violent coersion can be illegal. Where are you from for such form of hopitalization acceptable?

You seem like a lovely person... I'm so sorry that you're suffering and that your life is the way you describe it in your posts... And I'm so sorry for what you described in this post...

My experience in the psych ward was dehumanizing and humiliating, and a complete waste of time to top it off. I hated how the psychiatrists gave me that crisis phone number as if I wasn't already aware of it, told me suicide was a permanent solution to a temporary problem and then patted themselves on the back over how brilliant and heroic they thought they were being.

I have a strong fear of having to return to the psych ward, and I am terrified that my next stay would be even worse. It's currently one of the things preventing me from seeking out help for my mental health. I'll never understand how these people actually think they're helping anyone. How is traumatizing someone helping them? How is making people too afraid to seek proper treatment helping them?

I am sorry to hear what you went through, and I hope you can find a way to heal from it as much as you can.

Do you still have the (mental) capacity to sue? Isolated to a situation like this, I would at least see how maybe you'll be able to succeed in that, if you're lucky.. I wish you all the best, please be safe and avoid these bastards as much as possible. Be very careful in trusting anyone(!) in this system.
It's a system of abuse and correction, it is not designed to help the patient (you), it works as long as it shuts you up and helps everyone else.. It's like the HR department of society.

I have PTSD too, not because psych ward but because E.R. traumatic medical care and examination (3 times in less than 2 weeks - very humiliating, I don't want to talk about it anymore). PTSD is hell. If I could take a pill that erases my traumas, I'd take it without any doubt.

Glad mine wasn't like that although I guess mine was more of a mental asylum instead

I'm so sorry you had to go through that.
I'm deeply disappointed that so many psychiatric hospitals strip patients of their autonomy and are rife with inhumane practices and appalling conditions. I'm truly outraged. You deserved so much better.
