I may behave in a friendly manner, may laugh at your jokes or converse with you, maybe even say hello and exchange pleasantries, but I will NEVER have any true connection with you or trust. there's a barrier that won't allow it, constructed long ago. whether you're consciously aware of it or not, you'll know. it'll be all the more obvious when I can't be bothered to even acknowledge your presence or conceal my disdain.

I do that with masking due to autism. True connection isn't possible unless it's a life partner but that's gone to the dust after 4 years due to this shit environment and life.

Even if I share a special interest with someone it just means I'll be able to talk about with them for hours on end but it's really niche stuff and not for normies. I.e: normie would say I like this game but to me I would talk about the story, characters, motivation, plot, gameplay, arcs, world building, etc.
