I used to have a pet pigeon that would pace back and forth thru my apartment. he would jump on the bed and stare at me. he kept me alive, in a sense.

Hey there, please can I suggest you change your pic and user name as you're creating a huge security risk for yourself. If you post anything regarding suicidal tendencies here you may well find yourself getting a knock at the door. At best an email from concerned parties. Please consider these things as nobody wants to see you unnecessarily hassled or god forbid detained. There are also scammers and predators around that may take advantage of you in other ways.

I love my cat. She was a stray who I built huts for during winter in my families garden. I ended up taking her home and we would walk around the grounds of our property together. Everybody knows us and would send messages asking how she was when I got sick and stopped being able to go walking with her. I feel terrible guilt over having to keep her indoors but we're trying to make it work. She's hugging the heater atm. She will wake sometimes and meow at me until I go and fuss her on the heater. She is very communicative and has various ways of telling me what she wants. Similarly she understands a handful of my body languages and as such we have a certain shorthand communication. It's crazy because I find myself instinctively using said body language with people accidentally and they just look at me like I'm crazy lol. I honestly don't blame them. But I don't care. I'm so lucky. It's going to kill me to leave her when I ctb.

I'd get one, but don't want an animal in my dark, depressing apartment going mad w/me.

Gave my last bird to a sweet rehabber. She was happy, has aviaries, playmates and husband. Exceptional care from rare, sweet woman I just adore who lets me vent without judgment/ridicule/bullying.

Can see why birds love her.

You are so lucky. I am going to struggle to find somebody to care for my cat in the way she needs. I'm glad your cat will be able to stay in a familar place even though it's sad you have to leave him. Do know about slow blinks? It's pretty well known now but some still haven't come across it. It's a cat language thing. Whwn they blink slowly at you they're saying "I trust you". You can do it to thwm and if you do it right they will do it back. The blink/closing of eyes represents them sbowing their vulnerability in your presence. This is why it's a slow blink as the period of time eyes are closed represent how comfortable you/they are being vulnerable. Great way to gain and display trust. Just try ro remember not to do it with humans accidentally as they will think you're nuts lol.

My cat is often all over me especially right after I wake up or get home. If kitty snuggles cured depression, I wouldn't be on this forum, but it definitely helps. Cats are the best.
