Venting my cat has lung cancer

the ct results came in. turns out that my sweet girl has lung cancer. she is 17 years old, which is a lot for a cat. so i doubt that anything could be done in her case. tomorrow we are going to the oncologist, but i fear i already know what she will tell me. how am i going to live without her? i love her so much. i dont know what to do

I'm so sorry for what's to come. In my experience, there's no death or grief that does not change you to some degree and you may be left with a lingering hopeless and a missing spot where she once was. However, I want to rest assure you that you will find a way to live on without her, as you must(apologies if this is not helpful). I wish you the best and I wish your cat peace. You've given her means of a full life and I'm sure you've loved her lots by the way you speak of her, what better could be asked. If a peaceful passing is possible, I personally believe that's the best you can do for her now but I'll hold onto hope there's a fair chance of remission for her. There are some helpful Facebook groups for people mourning pet loss that can help quite a lot, as community is vital in these moments and they will recognise the gravity and have more insight on what to do moving forward. It's cruel how suffering is inherent and unforgiving in life. I wish you and your cat the best, and wish for a peaceful passing.

update: her x-ray results are worse now. she has fluid in the chest. she was prescribed palladia (chemotherapy). the prognosis is uncertain

I understand your struggle, my 11 y/o cat has sarcoma. it's a huge tumor right on top of her head, we weren't able to operate because I couldn't afford the procedures and the risk would be too high because the margins were so close to her eyes. I feel so fucking guilty. I've had her for a decade, since I was 13 years old…she literally grew up with me and she was my emotional support during my most difficult times she was always there for me.
I'm just spending as much time as I can with her and trying to spoil her but I absolutely hate seeing her in pain. I can't imagine my life without her. I'm terrified of coming home to my empty apartment when she's not around anymore. it's the most horrible thing I've ever had to deal with. she's my best friend in the whole entire world forever and I genuinely love her more than anything or anyone else in the entire world. I would never wish any pain or harm on her, she's so innocent and sweet. I'm scared to be alone without my sweet baby to take care of. taking care of her is the only thing that makes my life not feel pointless but without her I'm useless. I've cried so much and I can imagine you are in similar pain and I am so very sorry. cancer is so fucking cruel and evil and our sweet babies don't deserve it at all. it's not fair. I'm sorry this turned into a vent post but I just want you to know there are other people here in your situation and I understand your pain. I am so so so sorry I wish it was different for both of us and if you ever want to message someone in a similar situation as you my messages are open.
