Venting My cat died.

My cat died today. I loved him dearly, but he passed away.
I did my best to control myself and stay calm, so that I can comfort my mother, who was crying all day.

A few minutes ago she told me that this cat loved her more than I do.

I fucking… wow. I wanna go do some heroin.

I am so sorry for the loss of your family pet. It's never easy, and it never gets easier either. They are members of the family, and I know I feel losses of animals as deeply as I do humans, maybe even more. Be kind to yourself and let yourself grieve. There is no timeline to healing.

And as for your mother. That's an awful thing to say, but try and remember that people lash out during the throes of grief and lots of things are said that aren't true. Your mom is clearly in immense distress, and she took it out on you because you were the closest one to her at the time. We hurt the ones we love when we are spiraling.

I know it's hard, but try to keep a level head and remember that she didn't mean it. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.
