i'm planning on going to this small lake in my city at night but while the busses are still running (because it's kinda far away and i don't drive). my biggest fear is that there'll be people there. i need to prepare first (drink alcohol and then take benzos as i go in) and i'm scared someone will see me chugging whiskey straight from the bottle lol or that they'll hear me enter the water and intervene. well, i guess there's only one way to find out if there really will be people around or not. i might go there tonight but this fear makes me super anxious.

Hi. I don't mean to rain on your parade but I'd be kicking myself if I didn't say a couple things.

First off, your choices are your own. I have no idea what you're going through and it must be hell if you're planning this. But some info you should know:
- if you look around this site you'll see that hasty or uncertain plans almost never work
- being in water, especially cold water, will drop your body temperature and make the benzos less effective because your metabolism will slow down
- alcohol, while it does multiply the effect of the benzos, also makes you colder because it constricts the blood vessels. You can become hypothermic even in room temperature water; if it's cold water and you're "chugging whiskey straight from the bottle" as you put it, you're basically signing up for a really bad time and the benzos might not have the effect you're hoping they'll have
- don't underestimate survival instinct. It's highly possible that once you get in that water, you'll want to get out. But your body could go into shock from the cold and you could either drown in a state of terror or you could get rescued.
- if it doesn't work and you get rescued, you could live with longlasting or even permanent damage from the benzos, from hypothermia, or from lack of oxygen due to partial drowning. Best case scenario you just have a traumatizing experience.

I'm not trying to scare you and I'm sorry if I am. I'm just hoping you'll consider this is very likely to not go the way you want it to. I'm not saying your plan definitely won't work, but it's definitely a roll of the dice and even if it does work there could be a lot of suffering. I know the pain must be unimaginable, but if you really want to die there are better ways.

Benzos don't give lasting damage taken for one occasion. Long-term, they are not great, but some of us have to take them long-term.

I read some research on drownings in Ireland and most of them were drunk.

Every method has risks.

If there are a lot of people around and you swim into the water, they might try and rescue you, so you might want to find a time or location where no-one will see you.

I don't think people will think anything about you drinking alcohol - lots of people drink alcohol.

I don't know about the benzos and alcohol combo

don't all methods suck if we are honest? As does life for those of us here.

you could always do a recce then go home and see what you think. It doesn't need to be done at once.

I've been researching locations for mine. finding the right location with enough privacy is an important thing to do...

You are right, I myself have been taking benzos long-term. I erroneously assumed taking an OD amount of benzos was the intention here, but reading back at what was actually written, I must've made that up. There's still the whole alcohol/benzos reaction but yeah

@d4isy I wish you peace in whatever you end up doing. There's no shame in backing out if you find yourself feeling uncertain, but if you go through with it I hope that you're free of the anxiety in your final moments

oh no, my intention is to black out by combining benzos and alcohol and also to calm my anxiety at least somewhat.

thank you  i really hope this works because i've been absolutely miserable for years now and it only keeps getting worse.

To be honest, the lake seems terrifying to me, I admire your courage since the only way I even considered myself were Gas or SN.

Secondly I'm not sure most people would notice someone getting in the lake at night unless it is very well illuminated.
I had the sea next to me most of my life and more often than not, people that went were not found.

man, i wish i had access to either one of those methods..i'm going with drowning because i don't have access to any of the better methods. but ngl there is also a part of me that feels strangely drawn to it for some reason.

apparently it isn't very well illuminated. it was in the news recently because of something that occurred there and the article specifically mentioned that. i've been there before but only during the day which is why i didn't know.

You shouldn't have any problems with getting spotted then, it's really hard to see and recognize shapes on bodies of water at night.

I give you my best wishes, be it for living or succeeding in your exit. 🫂
