"Before I disappear"
Saw it in 2014 and it has stuck with me ever since. Pretty accurate depiction of how sometimes life can suddenly throw you something just enough to keep you going.

Perfect blue has an interesting take narratively and visually on dissociative disorder. Paranoia agent has an ep about people on a suicide forum meeting to die and becoming friends, some might not appreciate the message but i thought it was fun. Both are works by satoshi kon i highly reccomend

Not really a movie about mental illness per say.. but has somewhat the same affect seeing as he went through the same shit for the most part. It's called "The Theory of Everything". It's a movie about Stephen Hawking before he developed ALS, during and after. Great movie to watch in general really.

I loved "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest". It's one of my favourite movies but a common theme in a lot of mental illness fictional movies is that mental illness is easy to cure if the right person comes along and just "shakes things up."

Mental illness recovery is so much more in depth than that. It's arduous and long and I sometimes feel that although they do good in raising awareness, they give audiences the false impression that it's simple to fix.
